Jeff Weltman officially has ruled out Bol Bol for the season which was expected.



The Magic got him for his RFA rights and to acquire a future second round pick.

No surprise and no complaints.

He's got upside. If we keep him around, I trust what the FO sees.

I thought he was already ruled out for the season before we traded for him?

Either way, it was never about this year. It was about seeing if he was worth keeping around next year and beyond, and if not, oh well it only cost us a future 2nd rounder in a year where we already have 2 1st, so likely were gonna sell that pick anyways

there was hope, prior to him being traded here, that Bol Bol could possibly return at the end of the year.

Read that in a Pistons website or Celtics, If im not mistaken.

It didn't cost us anything. We "gave" away a top 55 protected 2nd rd pick which will not convey and we actually received a 2nd rd pick for taking on the salary of bol and pj dozier which we waived.

I notice that these oversized guys (over 7'1") who have lower body injuries early in their careers don't seem to bounce back well (or at all).

Pavel Podkolzin and Brad Millard are past examples. And Porzingis hasn't really come close to regaining his all-star form after his knee injury (some flashes, but hardly consistent).

I believe the Magic are getting a good look at him just in case Bamba gets an insane rfa offer. We will be looking at pure backups who can shoot and block shots.

I don’t really know his game. But hope he comes back stronger than before and can contribute.

Come on. We need the following lineup next season.

Franz, Bol Bol, Chet, JI and Bamba.

I believe its more of a placeholder type of thing, for possibly Holmgren. Weham seems to like doing placeholder transactions. And even Franz Wagner, I’m sure they did background check through Mo.

Not much of a shock here. Bol will likely be playing in G-League when he returns to action next season.
