The Indiana pick conveys to Orlando

Post#1 » by drsd » Mon Apr 11, 2022 9:19 am

The Orlando Magic have acquired two future second round draft picks from the Milwaukee Bucks (a second round pick owed to Milwaukee from Indiana in either 2022, 2023 or 2024 and Milwaukee’s second round pick in 2026) in exchange for the Magic’s second round draft pick (45th overall) in the 2020 NBA Draft.

PBO Weltman looks like a friggen genius as this is already an upgrade from 45 to 35.

At 32 and at 35, Orlando will get two nice future G-leaguers to develop into probably bench players after some seasoning.

Ismael Kamagate might be certain as a draft and stash at 32, allowing 35 to be Mr. BPA. I love Patrick Baldwin as a combo forward, if available. Trayce Jackson-Davis is a solid-tank type player (i.e. he "takes space"). ANd speaking of space, there is also Mr. imppobile Walker Kessler.

I think WeHamm could go with Armando Bacot here, in addition to Kamagate.

p.s. The Bucks selected Jordan Nwora at #45, meaning he won a title as a cheerleader. He is a solid bench player this year.

I'm 100% sure they will trade one, if not both picks.

Magic will start next season with : Suggs, Hampton, Anthony, Franz Wagner, 2022 first round pick ( and potentially Bol) all born in 2000 or later. There simply isn't enough time and space to bring 8 players under age of 22 and give them PT and expect proper development.

I agree that Orlando will not play its second-rounders. I see this as certain G-leaguers (or draft an stash Eurowünders)

45 for 35 and another future second is pretty good return. 32 and 35 could theoretically move us up some.

History tells us Weltman will dump these picks.

Incoming ‘cash considerations’.

But we will definitely sign some 30 year old unknown nobodies during the season.

And then Orlando Magic sells the rights to #32 and #35 to LA Lakers for cash and future considerations.

Nice way to spin positive into negative :) Weltman strategy has its risks but so far it was proven mostly correct.

under the radar good move.
Many things can happen.
I'd like a draft 1 for now, and stash one player.

Just please don't trade them for future 2nds, that is all I ask.

What college did this Cash guy go to? All I see is triple zeros on the stat line.

Certain teams may not want the higher salary and guaranteed portion that a first rounder implies.

I guess there's s chance the FO bundles our two seconds for a low first to get someone they like (great year to get a good center).

But most likely they'll be sold off.

So you like Upside over Cash in this draft then? They both have got game!

That 2nd rounders are the cheapest way to fill a roster, and that there is no guarantee on the contacts - unlike first rounders, a team like Milwaukee (#26) or GSW (#27) might go for two 2022 2nds and a future 2nd for their FRP this year. This gets Orlando in range for a guy like Wendell Moore.

It seems kinda silly to expect Orlando to add 3 rookies to a core that will have 3 3rd year players and 2 2nd year players. 8 players with 5 total years of experience then a couple young vets in JI and Fultz who have barely played a couple seasons worth of games. Very inexperienced and maybe fighting for play in tournament but ultimately falls short and gets lottery luck to get Victor
