Find our "Guru"...risky trades

Look at what CJ is doing in NOLA, Butler in MIA, and the greatest example...CP3 in PHO. We've got a pile of young "talent" that is largely unrealized, we've got cap space to weaponize, and we've got (?) a very high pick, extra picks in future drafts, and what appears to be a solid, young, motivator for a coach...how do we take that big chemistry/identity changing step this summer? How does ORL become the big story in the NBA next year?

I proposed this in the General Trade Board (it's probably being torn to shreds right now  ), but here's a more ORL-centric take on it...

ORL sends Wendell Carter, Cole Anthony, Terrence Ross
CHA sends Gordon Hayward, #13, Bouknight

Isaac/Bamba/Williams from Duke(*13?)
Jabari Smith or Banchero/M. Wagner
F. Wagner/Okeke/RJ
Hayward/G. Harris/Bouknight
Suggs/Fultz/MCW :D

The best choices, IMO, at the top of the draft don't necessarily work next to WCJ. WCJ has had a phenomenal year, but he's limited - let's sell high to a team that believes they are a Center away from serious playoff contention. Cole and TRoss (watch him wake up) give them firepower off of the bench and we don't have to watch them anymore. Obviously (very obviously), health is a big factor here...I choose to believe our FO knows Isaac is good and will be ready to destroy next year at C - blocking shots, switching everywhere, hitting corner 3's. Bamba can be re-signed to a fair deal and could continue to grow in his limited, but valuable role as a shot blocking force and a floor spreader (both of his skills would look really good next to Banchero, backing up Isaac-who has a more complete defensive game). IF Hayward is healthy, he's a great facilitator like Franz...plays very good/smart D, shoots really well and does have dominant games. Maybe, he's our super vet, our heady coach on the floor - who at times is the best player too. He's toast in CHA and his contract is an albatross to them - we could weaponize our cap space this year, when few other teams have any, to help CHA accelerate without really burying ourselves...not sure if we could still re-sign Harris/Bamba if we did this. It's all about chemistry and, sadly, I don't think WCJ is good enough to build AROUND, given our opportunity to draft players with star potential that may not fit as well with him.

Bouknight kind of scares me, given his DNP's and tantrums...could sub in a future pick or Thor, etc if he's not a good interview. He might also be their Cole...great talent, just not what they need. Perhaps Cole vs Bouknight is a sensible straight swap.

ORL uses #13 to get Williams or Duren to create a second Isaac type with length and defensive instinct to complement their new scoring PF-or maybe re-signs Bamba and drafts the best shooter available (Agbaji? could Davis drop?). Lots of ball movement, lots of shooting, lots of versatile defenders. If Suggs starts making shots, he probably overtakes Fultz pretty quickly. Also a remote possibility that this lineup suits Fultz so well that he re-emerges as a star. Go big or go home, WeHam!

Definitely paid too much and hurt too much...Coach decides who gets minutes and both players are versatile enough to play together as much as Hayward is able. Labelling players at positions is a (rightly) dying concept for progressive tacticians.

I like the idea but Hayward isn’t it.

Hayward is good, but not worth that much. He ain't that good.

Hayward is not the guy. Charlotte’s failed out of the play-in twice because of heavily relying on him, and his injuries harming them.

There’s two alpha scorers right now that appear to be in disgruntled situations:
Shai and Mitchell

Now, would either want to come here? Whose to say. Our ownership is our biggest weakness when it comes to recruiting.

Isaac, Suggs, Ross, Bulls first, and Nuggets first are what I’d be willing to offer. I know 99% of this board doesn’t want to depart with both JI and Suggs, but I like the other guys on the roster more when factoring in contracts, and for what type of roles each can play (be it starting or depth).

Rumor is that Brogdon will be traded now. Probably not someone that fits the description but it is a vet.

I think Kawhi or Paul George could be available. We would have to give up our pick this year and more though.

I would take Brogdon if the price wasnt too bad. If they are committed to Suggs though, would need to move Cole at a minimum. Brogdon would be a good mentor for Suggs.

Those guys are obviously MUCH more valuable AND younger AND would take a lot more than the OP...I'd love to get either, but don't see your offer being close to getting it done. I hadn't heard anything about Shai being disgruntled. I did hear of the probs in UTA - no doubt they'd prefer to keep Mitchell over Gobert, but I've heard commentators suggesting that Mitchell is much more likely to want out of UTA. I'd give a lot for him, but not enough to get us stuck in limbo.

I'm not sure either. Brogdon had also occurred to me, but not sure he's really an influencer (maybe just a good player?).

What would IND need for Brogdon? I guess they could use a PF or maybe primarily looking for picks(?)...Haliburton appears to essentially be a younger, longer Brogdon. I'm also not up on Brogdon's injury situation...he didn't play much or well this season, likely correlated but I don't know his prognosis for the future. If he's healthy, I'd certainly take a look.

What would it take to sign Oladipo? I guess it depends on how well he does in the playoffs.

Just reading the tea leaves from Weltman's remarks from earlier in the week, I don't expect the Magic to "push chips to the middle" this offseason. I think it's too early for that.

I don't think they're gonna sign any free agents to multi-year contracts. It will be 1 year deals. I also don't think they're going to consolidate assets for win now pieces in trades either.

I just don't think they're planning on next year being a super competitive year. I think they have their sights set on the summer of 2023 and the 23-24 season.

Can we explore signing Mav's Brunson? He is a UFA and he is clearly the 2nd option in Dallas. Dude came from Villanova and won national championships. He could be a huge signing IF IF IF our goal is to win Games next season

are we drafting Ivey? then you would have Suggs, Ivey, Anthony, Fultz and Brunson all fighting for time at guard (not even including RJ)
