OT Playoffs 2022

Post#1 » by pepe1991 » Sat Apr 16, 2022 6:27 pm

This should be best playoffs in ages, with at least 5 serious nba title contenders and injuries that open doors for darkhorses to win whole thing.

Your predictions, reactions, live reactions, free feel to share, even vent.

As i'm opening this Dallas and Utah are having very close first half of Game 1.

This Timberwolves team just feels different compared to before, it’s like most of them have that dog in them now.

After that great MEM/MIN matchup, the massacre against the Raps seems such a downer..

I guess I am rooting for the Suns. It would be nice to see point-god cement his legacy.

Gutted for the kid. That could end up being a career altering injury depending on what the x-rays show. Hopefully it's not as terribly serious as it looked.

I think about it every time I watch the sixers... admittedly, I did not want Maxey and his 29% college 3pt % during the draft.

Jordan Poole is killing it and he's another guy we had a chance at, but Edwards is showing he's the real deal. Playoffs have been fun just wish Luka was healthy, even without him Dallas played pretty good.

I see it too…does Beverly have that much effect…he’s all dog (way beyond his talent level)…2nd year Edwards is also feeling unstoppable

Drew 20 FTs and is one of most spectacular athletes out there. However ,his team is like 18-3 without him and i saw some arguments (not that i agree with them, but they are interesting non less) that Memphis wins on defense and Ja stuffs stat sheet but does not contribute to their winning as much as counting numbers would suggest.
Morant has 57,5% TS with is above league's average, but isn't all that much above league's average.
For example, by net rating he is 9th on own team. Top 4- are 3 starters and most impactful are Brooks and Adams, than JJJr.

In this series in particular, if Memphis wants to advance and be serious treat to whoever comes next, they have to go back to what made them sucessful. Defense. Running and gunning vs Minessota will kill them, Minessota has more versitale offense ( due Towns,Edwards, Beasley, Russell) but most of them can't defend. So half court , slower pace, grinding should be Memphis strategy. Running and gunning is suicide.

TO me MVP of playmaking so far has been Harden, 14 assists, 1 turnover, waxed Raptors out of balance ( but again Thybulle issue, where he is best individual defender on a team, on perimeter, but almost unplayable in playoffs due offense)

Maturity that comes with age plays role as well. Towns went through personal nightmare where half of his family died from cov-19. And guy is now almost 27. Perspective of life changes over time. Him and Wiggins had Butler in past but at that point of time, they weren't ready to commit 100% to be professionals. ( video games and stuff ) and look at them now, whole different people.

TRUE. its the tired old saying of " defense wins championship"

However, KAT went HAM. He ate Adams alive and JJJ was foul troubled because of him. They can't single coverage KAT but when they doubled, ant-man also cooked. So it was a pick your poison for them.
Well... I exepct them to settle in next game and counter this MIN team.

As long as Edwards makes tough shots, their pick&roll is basically unguardable.
Now can Edwards make high clip of mid range and pullup 3s for a series? I don't know.

Maybe Memphis should try to bliz& trap pick&roll more or just gamble on wide open looks for Vanderbitt & Beverly... Or simply keep single coverage on Edwards until his efficiency starts drop to normal.

Grizzlies can't afford big lineup and in same time lose rebounding ( 35-27) They also can't afford 0 points on 0 shots for Adams or 4-13 for Jackson. They will probably enter game 2 guns blazing and win, but T wolves already stole game 1 so ... good job i guess.

Playoffs couldn't start any better, Boston- Nets tonight should be hellofa game.

Yes.. KAT is supposedly "soft" thats why I wonder why they didnt force Adams to be more agressive offensively. Same with JJJ. Stop chucking 3s and attack KAT. He attacked and got offensive fouls on the other big men. If you gonna get those offensive fouls, everyone prefers you do it against KAT.

But point stands... Ja, like Fultz can blitz and squeeze his way throigh the defenses... main differemce is, Ja is just nore accurate conpared to Fultz

If Orlando can find efficient, high-volumne long-wall shooting (40% on 6 attempts a game) from a big, then Suggs/Fultz will thrive. Is that F-Wagner, of Smith? For perspective, this is in the Grayson Allen range of shooting.
For me: yes.
