James Bouknight

Post#1 » by orthoman » Sat Apr 16, 2022 9:52 pm

How does the Forum feel about us trading for James Bouknight?

He was a hot topic last year and was in the conversation of being a top 10 pick. He has, for the most part, sat on the bench this past year, with signs of disgruntling with ownership/coaching staff.

Could we package a trade of Cole (T Rex), Ross, a filler, and money for this guy to be on our roster as a shooting weapon?

We need deep shooting threats...its a joke when Markelle launches from the hip and Bamba hoists 3's when he should be banging with the big boys.

Thoughts?

I’m not opposed to the idea of trading for him if we could get him on the cheap but that has very little to do with him and more to do with searching for young untapped potential. I honestly do not get the fascination with Bouknight.

Is he worth more than Cole straight up? I don't get the TRoss + money thing? We'd have to take back more salary to make that work.

I'd happily do Cole for Bouknight.

As much as I am a Bouknight fan until Franz won me over...

Why would CHA trade him? I mean if you hear rumblings, they want JB tinbe their starting SG with melo next season???

The babycats is on an upward trajectory. I am sure they see Bouknight's development as key to tightening up bench scoring. I wouldn't say he is untradeable, but Orlando would have to pay $1.2 on the dollar to get him. He's not the kind of player that one should be considering overpaying for.

I’d rather get Mathurin in the draft than trade for Bouknight. I’m not a fan of his game and I don’t see him being anything beyond a bench player

not sure how Mathurin gets in the conversation unless the Lottery Gods toy with ORL. I like Mathurin, but if that's what this dumpster fire of a tank job was for :banghead:

Bouknight has done nothing but might show up soon. I wouldn't pay much but I'd happily give him a shot at our greatest position of need.Forget the idea of overpaying for Bouk-he's an incomplete grade at best. Nobody's suggesting that.

Cole Anthony has become hard to watch for me. I like him personally but he's like a roadblock to any kind of efficient team offense or development of any other players on the floor. Let Suggs & Fultz duke it out for PG duties...IMO, Cole has outplayed his draft position (statistically at least) and Bouk has not matched his own. I think it's a pretty even swap value-wise and both players might prosper elsewhere.

Honestly don't know...all I know about the situation is that Bouk gets a lot of DNPs, visibly feuded with the Coach and CHA is on the upswing (with or without him). Lamelo and Bridges are playing a Showtime style that fans love and players enjoy. For whatever reason, Bouknight made no impact (yet)...maybe it's attitude, maybe it's fit (is he more iso than run and gun?), maybe he's a bust... I don't know, but his draft profile is a LOT better than his NBA career thus far. Some guys just take a little time but maybe CHA chooses not to be patient with him. Terry Rozier is undersized at SG but can really score (he was also VERY unhappy in a reserve role in BOS) and Lamelo is big enough to guard swap defensively...Not sure if CHA is really that invested in Bouknight. Bouknight kind of dropped to them and may have been a BPA pick that they knew they couldn't pass up and could always swap for value.

I could see Cole leading a wild second unit with Lamelo cheering him on, trying to match Lamelo highlight for highlight. Cole's really exciting and fearless and skilled...I just don't know if he can play a disciplined winning role in ORL.

Mathurin is the player I most hope Orlando comes out of the draft with (even if it is not who is drafted for).

I'd love a trade-down where he is the "consolation prize" who ends up an All-Star.

Or a trade up. 2023 chi 1st+ 2025 den 1st? Or 2023 chi 1st both our high 2nd rounders this year and Rj. Assuming we get a top 3 pick and Mathurin falls to 6. Get one of PB Chet JSJ to go with Mathurin.

Maybe because they have an overpaid 5'11 gunner in Rozier in the guard spot who can't play PG ( probably? )

Charlotte’s not dealing him when he’s developing. He’ll get more playing time next season. Doubt they’ll hand him over to another Southeast team.

You know, i wouldnt be upset with this
I love his game, and since theres no clear #1, i dont see why he cant be in the convo for best out of this draft class

I was trying to think of who i would compare him too, and honestly watching the twolves\grizz playoff game, i started seeing alot of similarities between him and Anthony Edwards. If thats who we get in the draft, id consider it a good draft

You gotta wonder - with his profiled skills package, it’s surprising he can’t get on the court with LaMelo who should theoretically bring the best out in him. Could just be a coach and doghouse deal.

I wonder if we could flip Bouknight + one of Cole/RJ/Okeke/Ross for a Tre Mann or Moses Moody?

There is an about 48% chance Orlando drafts 5 or 6.
