I dont blame him, but he is coming off his worst year. His trade value is shot, we'll probably trade him to whatever is best situation for him
I will say I will miss the Human Torch, that was the coolest nickname any of our players had in ages.

one of the less understandable move of last years, the fact he stayed in Orlando until now, really zero sense
that said always good feelings for him, good player and nice guy

I've been a big fan and supporter...I hate seeing his value crumble to zero and I don't blame anybody but him. He seems like a good dude, but this last year was a shameful waste of physical gifts and talent. Now, he's just an expiring...maybe we get a 2nd or, hopefully, we use his contract as salary filler in a bigger trade for someone who wants to play.
He'll probably have a resurgence elsewhere. He is exactly the profile of player that we NEED. A long athletic freak of a wing that can shoot 3's, defend, and dunk on people's heads...if only he had the heart, he should be an All-Star.

I'm ok moving him for a 2nd at this point. We got value for him over the years. Let's just do right and get him to a good situation.
We keep building goodwill with these guys and soon players will want to come when our core ages a bit.

Don’t blame him for wanting to move on, I said so before that he was looking for a way out at some point. He should get a chance to compete for a ring, I hope we can find him in a situation like that if it suits us.
So at least we know now that we need a vet that’s happy to play off the bench, that can help with the development of our guys. Gary Harris can be that guy, but let’s plan without him for now just in case Harris feels the same (I doubt it).

Smart GMs know he can still shoot the ball and wasn’t prioritized on a tanking team. Good coaches will run set plays for him to get open looks and be a lethal shooter from the bench.
That’s said wonder if he gets packaged in a bigger deal this off-season or a 3 team deal

I hope its a for another lotto pick
Maybe something like Ross, Den 1st and one of our second rosters for a pick in the 10-14 range for Mathurin or Agbaji

Should have been moved a season or two ago.
Just like Fournier, the FO knows how to devalue their assets.

But they did exact opposite with Vuc. They kept him and increased his value triple times. Im sure if there was a decent offer for Ross, he would've been moved.

I’m all for a team friendly trade trade giving him away if that means we don’t take salary back. Or package our 2nds with Ross to move up to 1st rd in draft

Ross's contract is much more valuable once it becomes next season, a nice expiring, not too expensive piece. Also a great filler in a trade. No way were we getting a 1st for him this past season, but could be part of bringing something nice back...or the same 2nd rounder we would have gotten in season.
Wish him nothing but the best, great personality and did his best to adjust to what the team needed.

Vuc does not equal the same value as either of those players.
If you want to talk about mismanagement of assets involving Vuc, you can talk about selecting Bamba while not planning on moving him. Equally egregious mismanagement.

I think we will waive and stretch him, paying him 4M for the next 3 years.

Trade for second rounders would probably be fair trade, given that he pretty much said he is done.
That's 3rd Magic player in two years that asked some sort of let-go.

Why didn't we cash in when his value was high?

If there was not a good deal offered at the trade deadline, then it makes sense for management to wait till the off-season to trade him. Ross is a professional and if he is saying this publicly it is probably because he has been green-lighted to do so: that is he was already told it is the intention to trade him.
I guess this is all PR to get teams thinking about what offers can be made. But I do expect he will be a piece of a larger trade. For example, if the Magic trade down to get Portland's pick this year and numerous future assets, then Ross and Josh Hart would probably be a flip in that trade. - as one example of many.

And-1
A team like Miami or Golden State coule really go for this trade! They solidiify bench depth with two rotational players. And Orlandio gets a single better prospect.
So long as it's not for Caleb Love, I love this trade.

except we'll only draft a guy and surely ross+2nd can not move anything in top 10.
we will trade him for a second we'll never use as always
