Just Throwing it out there??? Collin Sexton?

people talk about Donovan Mitchell. Sexton is about the same height (and almost same length with 6'7+ wingspan), almost as good a scorer (but maybe better shooter, at least from 3). Cleveland looks like they are ready to give the reins to Garland. Could something be worked out with Cleveland? I dont think they want to pay Sexton and all the others

Yes, he isnt the best defender, but if we play him with Fultz or Suggs, they could guard the opposing SG's.

thoughts?

(go ahead and rip on it, wont hurt my feelings)

I would love it.
Sexton also has that dog mentality.

Didn't like him coming out of college due to his shot. He fixed his shot mostly... and I still don't love the idea of bringing him on

I am probably the biggest "hater"of Jalen Suggs on this board and also probably the only one who wants to give a prominent role next year to him, reading how many backcourt players you want the magic to bring to orlando(sexton, brunson,Bouknight, ecc.)

we just pick a guard at #5,the team should still be built around him

no reason you couldnt have a guard rotation of Suggs, Fultz and Sexton and use our 1st on Smith/Chet

like i said, just a thought. I would rather spend $$ on Sexton rather than Brunson. Sexton more proven.

I don’t think he’d be a bad fit, taking Cole’s spot hypothetically. Would all be dependent imo on what type of deal they offer him.

Brunson will probably be pricier now but would still rather have Jalen I think.

If you were pulling your hair watching Cole freeze out Franz just to play the gunning hero ball, I can't wait to see your reaction watching Sexton do his thing.

Wow... I don't think you saw Sexton play the first 3 years of his career. He plays exactly like Cole Anthony. He's a good scorer but provides nothing else and is a black hole offensively.

play him at SG, not PG. for all the people gushing about Brunson, Sexton a better scorer, and only .5 apg less than Brunson while demonstrably a better scorer. those 3 years were also horrible Cleveland teams.

I'm not big on either of them. Plus, you send those guys to a team like this where they both are vets but are young enough and good enough to feel entitled to start jacking up whatever shots they want. People are going to get really pissed off when the rest of the young guys can't get shots/handle the ball to develop their games.

Sexton has a history where his own teammates called him out for his tunnel vision on offense. Only gunning for his own scoring (Referencing Kevin Love a few years back)

Ironically, when he went down it gave everyone else on the team a chance to get better and have better ball movement on offense and better overall team morale and they were ALOT better without him. I cant imagine if Sexton was playing that Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen would've looked like all-star caliber players.

I envision the Magic playing like this and NEEDING to play like this so we don't have a similar situation that happened during the Hennigan era, where the players were out for themselves rather than the team. They have guys that like moving the ball. Adding an iso guy who doesn't make anyone but himself better on a young team like this doesn't help the rest of the team improve.

Fully agree. And Cole has at least shown some playmaking ability, albeit far too infrequently.

Sexton is an inefficient shooter, a below average defender, an awful playmaker and is very turnover prone.

No thx.

We need size and defense at guard, not another small guard. How would Cole and Sexton guard Smart and Brown?

Yup... I wonder why him though. I thought majority of this board already hates what Cole is doing... you wanna get the player thats like Cole v2.0?

Personally, I like Collin Sexton.

That being said, I don’t think he should be anywhere near Suggs, Fultz, and Cole assuming we kept all three.

then i dont want to hear anyone clamoring for Mitchell, since they are basically the same size.

and in this scenario, you would move on from Cole. As i mentioned, you would play sexton with Fultz/Suggs.

like i said, just throwing it out there. But Sexton much more established scorer and shooter than Cole. and Sexton had more apg his 1st 3 years in the league than Durant, so there are a lot of "black holes" out there.

everyone wanting a scorer, just throwing out someone that might be available for the right price. not a whole lot to talk about without being in the playoffs and the draft weeks away

I'd have no interest. A healthy team is like an ecosystem. Players like Sexton are the invasive species.

Yeah.. i get that. But when i personally think of the scorer we need I kinda think of the Curry Harden KD Ingram Tatum Booker kind of scorers, you know, those who move the ball sometimes not the Cole Tross Sexton Randle pre-gsw Wiggins types of black hole chuckers

true, but cant people learn? as i pointed out, you metion KD and Sexton had more apg his first 3 years than KD did (also more than Tatum). sometimes players learn, especially when they start out on a very bad team.

anyways, not beating a dead horse, just throwing out an idea on a slow day to Magic fans

Mitchell has a wingspan and a big frame. If we add another small guard we need to let RJ and Cole go. I like Kennedy Chandler over both of them.
