I'm going to do a poll about every player on the roster over the next few weeks leading into the draft lotto. Looking to get some general thoughts on what the Magic should do with each player moving forward.

We'll go from the guys who played the least to the guys who played the most.

What should the Magic do with Moritz Wagner?

I would let Moe's contract guarantee on 6/30 and keep him for next season.

You can do a whole lot worse than him for a third string big. Plus having him around is probably a good thing for Franz.

Also, Mo plays with edge and toughness. Really good to have around young guys to know someone has got their back.

At this salary line, the question is really - is M-Wagner one of the best 400 basketball players on Earth. That is a clear yes.
Indeed, he is a really, really good 3rd stringer and easily a 12th man on most NBA rosters.

I think he not only gets locked in next year, but he is fairly certain to get an extension over the year for the three year 10M range. Why? If M-Wagner can get his defense up to NBA average, he has growth potential to be a solid, rotational backup big. Even without F-Wagner, I really like Moe as a Magician.

That won't happen though, he's just too slow to be a decent defender in the modern NBA. He can improve on that end, certainly, for example by committing fewer dumb fouls and not biting on fakes so easily, but his ceiling is pretty low because of his athletic limitations. Which is a shame since his offense is pretty good.

He's still worth keeping on a minimum contract or a bit more, but he's not someone who can really be a part of a playoff rotation.

I agree that his defense is too bad to be a rotational piece on a playoff team. He could be a player that gets occasional minutes to spark a team with his energy.

If we draft someone like Jabari, Chet, or Banchero we should package him in a deal.

I disagree...he's still young...if he's smart & motivated, he can become a good defender. Guys like him carve out 10 year careers by developing their craft along with their 3pt spot up shooting. Just for reference, DPOY Marc Gasol wasn't exactly Flash. Moe seems like a happy guy and fierce competitor and he seems to accept his limited role with an eye on making an impact when given the chance. Lots of vets see their opportunity realistically and work hard on whatever they need to shore up to stay in the league. He'll never be on-ball Scottie Pippen, but he doesn't need to be.

Big fan of Moe and is a no brainer to keep. I even think he can be a rotation piece. For the price, and being Franz brother, easy yes

Not a huge fan, but for the purpose of keeping Franz comfortable I would not have an issue if he stayed around as the very last man on the end of the bench.
