poll: With the Fifth pick, Orlando selects ....

Orlando is most probable to select fifth, and most mocks has the top-4 locked as, in some order, Ivey, Smith, Banchero, and Holmgren.

Beyond the moans that the Magic "missed out by one pick yet again", who do the Magic select at 5?

For perspective, Orlando has drafted 5th three times: Mike Miller, Mario Hezonja, and Jalen Suggs.

Everybody but AJ Griffin. I don't care about his ability to shoot, you are not Wes Matthews clone away for being good.

Sharpe unless he doesn’t check out mentally. If that’s the case, it’s a coin flip between Mathurin, Branham, and Murray. AJ Griffin shouldn’t even be in the discussion.

Been on the Mathurin train for a long time but I'm also coming around on Davis. Would find it hard to choose between them. Both will come in a LOT shorter than claimed.

Once I saw how much AJG struggled to get off the ground, i cooled off on him considerably. He still has a pathway to being a very good player, but the lack of explosion is a big factor in limiting his self creation upside.

Murray and I would feel pretty good about it - He's already quite good and our track record with development isn't amazing, so it works.

So easy to go Sharpe but...if the info gets better-he could go higher. He still spooks me. I just don't know what makes him a better prospect than young JR Smith yet? I'd love the profile, measurements, interviews to develop where there is a legit 5 man race for first.

I said Murray...for now

i really like Ben, but at #5 you can take a gamble on Sharpe (if we did our homework), screwing the 5th pick is not the end of the world

If we end up missing on the top 4, just take Sharpe.

This comes down to Murray and Sharpe for me.

The FO would probably take Murray. Fans would probably want Sharpe.

My issue with Murray comes down to pairing him with Franz. Is that the best duo at F defensively? That’s what they would be banking on if they spend a top 5 pick on him.

Sharpe is a boom or bust pick.

its 51% that we draft 5th? i find that hard to believe

edit: yeah, after reviewing odds, we are not most likely to pick 5th. shoot, we are 52% vs 27.8% to pick 1-4.

I like Murray over Sharpe. Murray has proven himself and can easily play with Franz. and Murray is 2-way player, which we could use more of

I’d hope our FO does all the research on Sharpe as possible. It would be between him or Murray for me. If Murray is legit 6’8” no shoes then damn that’s a good size and he can work on the court.

I feel like Sharpe is either going 5th or 15th/later. Huge gamble, but these teams are going to have so much more intel than we will.

Johnny Davis seems like a worse version of Suggs (and Fultz).

Murray, I just don't know. Looks pretty well-rounded, but we are talking about a guy that got back up minutes at Iowa last year. He's got one year of tape as a lottery pick

If we miss out on the top 3, I think they are drafting BPA. That might be Duren. He's over three years younger than Murray, and he has the prep pedigree.

We only have a 27.8% chance of landing at 5. It's not like this is definitely where we are drafting. We have a 52% chance of drafting top 4. Absolutely possible, but not probable.

Is he the next Mike Miller or the next Mario Hezonja? I think the Magic take a pass as getting this wrong will cost WeHamm's job.

I don't necessarily disagree.

The knocks on Murray are that he's 22 and that he might struggle against length at the next level. If he truly is the next Danny Granger then I would choose him over Sharpe and can see the FO rationalizing this as well. He's the safer pick.

Why? Mostly because I think the FO is anemic to making a move like trading Fultz in order to balance the roster out. Most scouting reports say he also plays bigger than 6'8, which is what I'd rather hear as opposed to drafting Paolo at 6'10 while he plays like he's 6'5.

Murray is a tweener, smaller than the other fours going ahead of him. I think his ceiling is Tobias Harris. So never an all-star is his ceiling. Danny Granger is another player I've seen him compared to made one all-star team.

Sharpe's ceiling is Vince Carter an 8x all-star.

I have Sharpe 3-4 and Ivey 5.

Interesting opinion. Let's flesh this out... say Isaac doesn't return to form, Suggs continues to look like a bust, and they draft someone like Murray and he becomes a bust (not a quality starter).... you don't think it will cost them their jobs?

I would be so amped up, but ultimately chicken out on taking Tari Eason.

Read on Twitter

And eventually I'd take Murray.

This is why I don’t think they take Sharpe regardless of draft position.
