What does Mo Bamba play like?

Post#1 » by dirkdiggler4177 » Wed May 11, 2022 10:20 am

What does he play like? From what I have seen he seems to like the 3 ball too much. Will he be resigned this offseason?

He plays like 7 feet tall shooting guard who has no post game on offense, and can block shots but is a pushover on defense. Overall he is not very agile and has awful spacial awareness. I doubt magic will resign him unless we have no faith in Isaac and we miss on top 3 prospects in the draft.
He has some upside in offenses where all the thinking is done by someone else (like your team), and there is good perimeter defense to channel players into him. (you have some upside there).
For us he is basically useless imo.

Bamba is a perfect spark plug C off the bench. He might get hot and knock down 5 3’s in a half. He might get 5 blocks in that same half too. Or he can come out flat and lethargic. Cant be relied on to start. 4 years 40 million is my limit for resigning

I think this is a very fair assessment and, I would add, I don't think he'll regress but he MIGHT still get better with more Mosely...I can't see ORL letting him get away for nothing, considering his age, measurables, etc. Unless someone makes a foolish offer, you match and discuss sign & trade (or just keep him in the role nicnac described-particularly with Isaac's questionable future)...If the world knows you'll match any reasonable deal, they likely won't appear...in fact, I'm expecting them to announce a new, fair deal quickly in FA, even if no outside deals are offered...a good deal is always tradable. We also have the cap to do Weltman's typical descending deal to make it even more palatable.

I remember everyone freaking when AG casually mentioned "he'd like a max" (who wouldn't)...he was resigned quickly, reasonably and quietly.

There is very low chance he will start on our team, do we really want to pay so much for lazy reserve ?

I wouldn’t want that many years or that much salary going to Bamba. This isn’t some big asset we have to retain.

IMO they should let him walk or if they really think he might show something different offer him 1 year 10 million or 2/20 with 2nd year team option.

I think we should let him go and get a fresh start somewhere else.

ANd-1

And I will add that when he makes a mistake, he gets sullen and that can lead to real mental lapses in his play for the subsequent play.

He projects a general lack of hustle.

But: he can jack the 3-ball and block shots. Those are two NBA skills.

If they're committed to waiting until the summer of 2023 to spend money, then I'd offer Bamba the qualifying offer (1 year, 10M) and he can take it or leave it.

If they want to spend money this summer, then I'd let him walk.

decent backup C for second half teams of the league.

low motor and low basketball i.q.are his insurmountable flaws.

Bamba is a 3 and D center. If you count empty block stats as D.
He has crazy length but lacks feel for the game.

Funny how people are willing to get rid of him for 10-12m, but are perfectly fine with a cripple like Isaac getting 17m "because of his potential"

Personally given the choice of keeping Bamba for 10-13 vs Isaac at 17, give me Bamba all day, atleast hes likely to play more than 30 games.....and im not even a big bamba fan.

If they both played 70+ games I’d rather give Isaac 17 million than Bamba 3 million. This thread is about Bamba not Isaac and his injury history. Lets keep it to that. Isaac hopefully will come back strong and healthy. 25 minutes a game for 70 games would be awesome. He fits so perfect with Franz and Wendell you can’t give up on him yet.
