Dallas and Orlando Draft day Trade Proposal

Magic Trade:
T Ross
#32
#35
Dallas Trades:
D. Bertans
#26
This trade help Orlando to get rid of Ross and add more. Bertans makes the contracts line up. Yeah is contract isn't great but he is a vet and he can add shooting to our roster. There is no way we are using #32 and #35. We don't have the space on the roster. We have to consolidate the picks. Then with the #26 we draft Nikola Jović. This would add shooting to our roster.
Dallas supposedly wants to move the pick for a vet. Ross is great vet to have with Luke. Luke will keep the attention off of Ross and allow him to be the Human torch again. it also gives them more cap space and two picks in the seconds round as assets.
Thoughts?

NO thanks. We could probably get at 32, the same guy targeting at 26. If we're giving up T-Ross in that package, get me in the mid-late teens.

Not interested in Bertans eating up that much potential cap space in 2023 and beyond.

Jabari (or WCj)/Isaac/M.Wagner
Bertans would be 4th PF on the depth chart. No way we give you an expiring and premium 2nd round picks to help you out.
#26 is the cost you'll pay to dump him.

Frankly #26 for #32 and #35 is a good trade for Dallas on its own. THe quality of the players will be similar in this flat draft. ANd the to second rounders will provide bench depth at the same cost as the FRP.

I think the point is that Orlando could absorb Bertans, with the #26, for the uptake of #32 and #35. Orlando could probably swallow that. But only if the idea is to waive and stretch Bertans.
..

no. Bertans has 3 more years at $16.5m (what a horrible contract). That would normally take a pick 15-20 just to get rid of. then you have us add our two 2nd round picks? this is waaayyyy too good for Dallas and horrible for Orlando

Dallas has a lot of wings signed to big contracts. Hardaway, Dinwiddie, and Bullock.
I think Ross takes a buyout if it looks like he has no role again this season. A lot of that might depend whether we re-sign Harris.

If this is what we do with a big chunk of our cap this offseason...I'm out.
If Bertans still had any game, he'd be flourishing next to Luka. 3 years is an eternity for this developing team. I'm not against eating someone's contract to make a move, but 26 isn't close to doing it-especially when we're including so much. TRoss' expiring (and his potential play on a contending team) has value on it's own-westman could have traded him, but held on for a first that we weren't going to get...that doesn't mean we need to pay (with 2nds and, especially, taking on a terrible deal) to be rid of him. The money part is the BIGGEST asset in the deal, IMO.
If I'm going to eat a bad deal to get an asset, I'm thinking Hayward and a much higher pick. Hopefully, it doesn't even come to that for our cap space.

I agree about eating a contract.
IF we were going to do that, I'd rather eat the Plumlee or Oubre contacts and get the #15 for the 2nds(CHAR also has the 13th pick & needs to sign Bridges)
Or maybe someone off of CLE roster for the 14th?
We could also offer the worst of our 1sts next year if there was someone we loved then.

Why buy him out? I'd rather he sit home if he doesn't want to play...his expiring is an asset to be utilized, even if he's sunk his own on-court value. Buying him out does nothing for ORL except save the owners a few bucks but taking a usable asset out of Westman's hands.
(I also believe execs out there know he can still play-he just took the year off. We may not get the 1rp we desired, but he's not without some value to a decent team looking for depth)

i wouldnt mind offering the worst 2023 1st round pick we have to grab Agbaji. can definitely shoot, has length and very good defender. i see him as a slightly smaller Mikal Bridges with more scoring potential. maybe a lesser Klay.

I'm sure he wants to play but the team could be all about not trying to win and playing youth. He needs to play a role on a team next season or he may not get another decent deal like Ennis and Otto Porter.
All of those players would've benefitted from taking a buyout and going to a veteran team.

Yeah, I think that is a good use of a 1st, that really we shouldn't want next year.

Agree...there are a handful of similar wings in a reasonable range (mid 1st)...Agbaji, Branham, Hardy, Beauchamp, Dieng - that might warrant a look. I really like Agbaji-he's big, mature, has shown up in big games, and shoots lights out.
I'm ALL for making numerous aggressive moves this summer to destroy the value of our upcoming frp...right after trading it

It gives us a roster spot and we don't take back any salary. There is no reason for him to still be on this roster if he doesn't want to be on it. If nobody is offering anything better than nothing (the positive has to outweigh the negative), then you just cut him loose.

the thing about Agbaji too, people say, they wont take that many rookies. But you get more maturity with a 4 yr college player. not the average NBA rookie, and is only 4 months older than someone like Murray, so he isnt super old. in fact, with 4 years under his belt, he is close to the age of most of the prospects that only played 2 years.

i dont see anyone taking him for 26 straight up..even if you took back a 20 mil exp...you need to just hope he turns it around
