2nd Round & Non-lottery player discussion

Post#1 » by Bensational » Fri May 20, 2022 4:51 pm

There’s gonna be a lot of discussion on who should go #1, so I thought I’d start thinking about other players we might get a look at with our 2nd round picks or a trade up into the mid-late first round.

I stumbled across some highlights of LSU Sophomre PG Eric Gaines. He’s entered the transfer portal so not declaring for this draft, but love his package of skills. He’s not a shooter yet, but I feel like that will come for him as he’s an 80%ft shooter and he gets to the line a good amount. His handles are tight and springy and his hops and hang time are insane. Great vision and ability to manipulate and read a defense and the handles and patience to wait for lanes to open up. Defensively he averaged 2spg in 26mpg. His TO’s are high and 1:1 with his assists, but I think he can learn to get those down.

Wendall Moore, Leonard Miller, McGowens. Maybe trade both to move up for Jalen Williams or Jovic

Wendell Moore would fit on this team well. I would package both picks to move up and get him.

lol, i may have had a little bias with him. I did just like the fact he was SEC Player of year and defensive POY. i knew his shooting was bad, figured he would be a good bench, energy guy. decent floor, not too high ceiling. but you need those guys. someone who could affect the game with his defense.

Don't care to waste my time.... We'll be trading the picks for cash or future picks.

I agree, I really hope we can package our 2RP+ross to get one of those guys:

OCHAI AGBAJI
MALAKI BRANHAM
JADEN HARDY
WENDELL MOORE JR.
Draft Carter
Sign monk
Trade Cole for a forward
Let chuma+fultz go
Offer Harris and goga a 1+1 deal

unleash Jett next seaon

Go Magic

Suggs, AB, Carter
Monk, Jett, Harris
Franz, Jett, Houstan
Paolo, Moe, (Cole trade)

As a Duke fan, I always support getting Duke players.LOL

However, after his measurements, I think Moore is playing into 1st round territory.

seriously, consider our roster.

Fultz/Cole/Cannady
Suggs/RJ
Franz/Okeke
Jabari*/JI/Wagner
WCj/Bamba?/Bol?

If we use a 2nd rounder, i think it'll be on a SG/SF and/or a front court player opposite of whatever position we take at #1.

Procida, Koloko and Dalen Terry are three guys I think will be high-floor and decent ceiling pros.

They must have liked someone during the combine that they think is a 1st rounder... I wonder if its a big or a wing?

This.

I would love to get Agbaji, Eason, Moore, or Dieng in a trade up for Ross + other assets.

Unfortunately, we know the history of this FO.

Nah. You can't get them to use one second-round pick. Give them two. What is that going to lead to? They can't know how the draft is going to unfold. They just know that they have no interest in actually using two second-round picks.

What about Nikola Jovic?

He is a 6'10 Guard/Forward. He can shoot and is athletic. Not a great defender but he could be a good addition.

We will make two trades:
- 1st trade: We trade 2 2nds for a late 1st
- 2nd trade: We trade this late 1st for a future 2nd Top55 protected from the Lakers in 2029 + cash.

He is not in the draft so no need to talk about him.
