His ideal frontcourt is franz /paolo/wcj
We ll use this summer cap space carefully as we want to be a major FA player in 2023
He likes how Orlando positioned themselves for the future (talent + contract situation)
Said that JI is working hard on his rehab but empathy on the fact that he has not played for years
My take :
We ll only use this year cap space om 1yr deal contract, this is why I think we could be a trading partner with NY and take noel + burks off their hands for a future FRP
I don't think we ll offer a big contract to mo, more likely to S%T or QO
I feel very sad saying it, as i m a huge JI fan, but if it meant for us to make a big splash in 2023 Free agency, i think weham are ready to cut ties with JI. It s important to remember that JI s contract for 2023 is only partly guaranteed (because he didn't play this year),
2023-24 is guaranteed for just $7.6 million. And the final season, in 2024-25 is now fully non-guaranteed.
So if needed orlando could clear another 10M next summer by cutting him
This is not what i want to do but i think weham wouldn't think twice if it meant landing a top FA

The way Weltman talks, or is reluctant to talk, makes it sound like Banchero’s reps were trying to keep him out of Orlando… I wonder why?

When you say Paolo's reps? Do you mean Mike Miller?

Who are thes FA that we can realistically sign and want to sign?

Someone that Weltman seemed concerned about referencing in any specific sense, so I’m guessing someone he might have to deal with again in the future. Is MM Paolo’s rep?

He is the agent. I mean, he was in the pics/videos when Paolo worked out at gyms, he was seated besidea Paolo during the draft , he was also there when Paolo visited us the 1st time as a magician.

After listening to Weltman it sounds like this year will be another one just developing the young players and not using the cap space.

I feel like those are all common sense moves, and I'm glad they are going in that direction.

Something along the lines of if he signed a free agent this year it could have implications on the cap space in 2023.
He seemed more focused on developing the young players we have this season. I didn't hear playoffs as a goal in any of his interviews.

Thanks.
Yeah, he better not mention POs to so many young guys. I mean sure we better compete every night and stop with the questionable tank.moves late in a game to guarantee us a loss. Just do our best to fight in the playins.

Yeah, I don't want to keep teaching the young players how to lose. Just play them and not sit out players like Wendell so we can lose.

I don't disagree with patience and development BUT if we don't invest in some floor spacing, development is hard to imagine. We have multiple creators now and they'd all be easy to lockdown without any outlets for legit 3pt threats. I don't want to see Paolo hanging his head after every loss after he busts his ass, makes great passes and watches airballs that should assists and even hard-fought wins. That's not a healthy season. Same with Franz and Fultz. I'm not suggesting big time FA's, but floor spreading specialists to support the development of our core...
I bet Mike Miller can still hit an open corner 3

So a lineup with Franz/Paolo/WCJ is as solid as it can get IMO. Which means to me Issac and Bamba can head out, Chuma and M. Wagner can be beneficial backups. Sign a veteran backup C. And dump money into our SG situation.

Just listened…
He obviously knew who they were taking when Orlando won the draft. That’s what I got from his comments.
They just wanted to see if they could squeeze assets with the smokescreen and get the reports on guys. There was nothing gained by being overly transparent with everyone. That’s my takeaway.
Good to know they prioritized WCJr/Paolo/Franz as the core. No 2K bull **** lineups everyone throws out. As expected Isaac will be eased into minutes.
Suggs being in the top 90% of ALL players on defense is a serious mention here. Rookies being plus defenders is an anomaly regardless. I’m glad Weltman talked about that in regards to Suggs potential. He wasn’t as glowing about Fultz other than saying he made the team better when he returned. People are asleep.

You simplify it like it's that easy with Isaac and bamba.
If Isaac is healthy.. why would you want to just get rid of him after so much investment. He can slot in at the 3 and 4... and small ball 5 most likely. Injuries do happen... so having high quality replacements is also important as well. along with most importantly having a strong bench. No guarantees with mo... but if he's down to come back at a reasonable amount next season... or accept the QO... and be used in a trade later... awesome.
Though these guys have been in the league for a handful of years... there's still a lot to be discovered in my opinion... before just "letting them go"
Imagine you let isaac go... after investing all that time... and enegry... goes to boston... and he actually comes back healthy ... on a boston team that got him for pennies on the dollar... and proves what some of us still believes he can be. Yeah... that would suck in my opinion. lol
It all comes down to hat the coaches and FO see on a daily basis IMO

I agree. I’m not asking for sexy, splashy moves but this team needs more spacing or you’re at risk of slowing down the development of some of our core pieces.

I’m personally ok letting guys go for nothing. But that’s just me. Even if Issac is healthy you can’t start him over any of those three. He would have to be a backup and he’s to expensive to be a backup. So if you can trade him I would. As for Bamba he just doesn’t do anything for me. I’d much rather see Robin Lopez than Bamba atleast Lopez hustles.
