The Two-Way Players are now set.

Now, it is about how they cut back the main roster from 16 to 15 although with some Exhibit 10 Players for Lakeland.

Harris is 25 years old.

He was a 4-year player out of Stephen F. Austin in the Southland Conference and made 188-474 (.397) threes for the Lumberjacks.

He went undrafted in 2020. Played for the Raptors G-League team the last two years. He's made 64-175 threes in his G-League career.

He was tremendous in the Summer League for Minnesota: 15.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.4 BPG, 2.6 TOV on a .577/.458/.727 slash line.

Harris is one of like 1000 guys who would absolutely destroy everyone down at the local YMCA, but probably isn't *quite* good enough for the NBA.

Right on the fringe of being on an NBA roster. I hope he works out. Would be awesome to actually hit on a diamond in the rough type.

I don’t expect to see him but I like the FO acknowledging our need for pure shooting, with anything more being gravy…
Draft Houston, , bring back Harris, Bamba, now this guy…somebody will hit open shots

It's interesting because the "easy" solution to the final roster cut would have been to have Cannady as the second 2-way. It's been my impression that they like Cannady, so I would be slightly surprised to see them just cut him loose. Maybe Ross really might get bought out or dumped for nothing. Or maybe Cannady will just be gone, it's not like he's some gem.

So 1 player on standard nba contracts needs to be cut from the team?

The most obvious options are Houstan, Cannaday, bol bol from a monetary standpoint, while Ross can be added as a team fit candidate for requesting a trade a while ago.
We just drafted Houston and subsequently signed him for 4 years.
We just traded for bol bol and gave him a 2 year deal without even Playing.
We just recently opted in on cannadys contract for this year.
So cutting any of them doesn't really make sense.

I really though Cannady was going to get that 2nd way contract. Does he still have a non-guaranteed contract with us?

Correct. Cannady has a fully non-guaranteed NBA contract.

Everyone else, including Bol and Houston, have guaranteed deals for 2022-2023.

Cannady is a nice person, but he's no keeper. Kevon looks worth a shot.

Cannady can still be on Lakeland right?

RJ is the easy choice by a mile to cut.

If the Magic waive Canady, he is a FA to sign anywhere he can, including any G-league team. Lakeland is conceivable, but so are Euroleague teams.

6'6 wing who can shoot and defend, those are always useful. He propably saw Hampton, Anthony and our injury history and thought he can crack our rotation at some point. His development in Toronto is interesting- 3.6ast to 1.9tov. Players who improve their playmaking every year are usually good students of the game and develop nicely even in their mid twenties.
Our two-way slots with Schofield and now Harris show we propably wont tank unless we are out of the play in picture. Those arent young, raw, prospects.
Tough times for Hampton ahead.
Choosing between Ross and Cannady is tough...... but i would cut Cannady in the end. He will not be a trade asset, his contract is not guaranteed. Ross is goofy and can realese some tensions among our young crowded roster. He made his money already, he is happy in Orlando, he is ok coming from the bench or even riding DNPs.

They already picked up his $2m option.

We didn’t discuss it much because we had other things to focus on, but Cannaday was low key terrible in Vegas.

Not a chance. He's a good on ball defender, he's got a very quick first step and once the game slows a bit on offense he's going to see his spots and be able to get to the rim for easy buckets or freebies at the line. And he shot the 3 way better than Terrence the human torch Ross! He's only 21 and on a rookie scale contract.

Sure there was some sloppy play, but why wouldn't there be from a young guy in only his second year in the league. Think about it for a moment... his first season he plays 25 games for denver-gets traded and plays 26 games for orlando. Then magic and cliff part ways and in comes mosley. So entering his 52nd career game he's got a 3rd head coach in basically the 1st full calendar year of his career. Top that off with a team committed to tanking and player development.

Now think about tanking and player development. Sometimes the young guys need to go out against the opponents and get there butts kicked so they can see there weakness and strengths and know what to work on to get better.
I already said rj shot the 3 better than Ross. He wasn't lights out but I believe he was right about league average, which we as a team don't shoot league average 3s. Why would give that away for nothing?
That brings us to this. He went to summer league and sucked. He needs to embrace his role as a 3 and d player, and he needs to give up thinking he's a point gaurd cause his handles and playmaking isn't good enough. Those are pretty much the 3 comments I keep reading here(paraphrased). As I understood it he asked to play summer league. That's ambition. That's a commitment and a desire to go against competition that's playing with something to prove. And maybe he knows what his role is but also wants to work on the weaker parts of his game like the playmaking and facilitating on offense. What's so bad about that? Why would you give up that quick?

I can see the reasons why some would add him into this conversation. I just have him as a better chance of being a good rotational player than the others I've listed. Makes me wonder if there's no intent on cutting anyone but an idea for a trade instead. Maybe one of those Ross to the Lakers for there 2045 second round pick and cash considerations trades we strive for
