Bol Bol Experiment?
Wendell Said Magic experimented Bol Bol, Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter together on the court.
We don't know anything of Bol Bol yet. But that makes me excited to see Bol Bol's potential here in Orlando
The question is what is the spot for Franz Wagner. Maybe he can play the off guard at 2 and Cole becomes the starting PG
But I really like this potential rotation.
Bol Bol, how can you not be excited about him

We're still doing this experiment? And with Bamba AND Isaac, my goodness. I really hope we don't take minutes from Franz and Paolo to try to cram all these bigs onto the floor. Other than that, whatever!

Bol replacing Wagner early and then Franz returns handling the ball for second unit ?
So many players aspire for playing time, i wonder what is the plan to keep good chemistry. Trade seems inevitable.

Positionless basketball, basketball now days is full of switches
Important is what type of players you can defend
A lineup suggs, Franz, PB,wcj, bol (or JI once 100% healthy) would give issue to many teams
Gw revolutionized the NBA when they went small , everybody thought it would never work, now it s our turn to do that, people will think we r crazy but it will work, weham collected the right players to do this

Bulls most played 1998 playoffs lineup was 6'6 Jordan, 6'8 Pippen, 6'11 Kukoc at SF, 6'6 Rodman and 6'6 Harper.
Tallest among them was their best shooter , best rebounder was 6'6-6'7 guy, team led in APG in playoffs was their SF/PF.
Warriors just improved D'anotni's Suns previous variation of offense by adding 2 elite sharpshooters , boosting pace and adding most skilled passers & versitale defenders around them. But even that wasn't all that inovative, since Spurs alredy played 4-out back in 2010 with Duncan as only "big" and with Manu, Richard Jefferson, Ginobili, George Hill playing on perimeter.
But even THAT wasn't all that inovative, since Lakers won championship in 2009 with Gasol at C, with Odom at PF; Kobe, Fisher & Ariza all being on perimeter. On paper Bynum was "starter" but played 17 mpg in playoffs.
Don Nelson started experimenting small ball back in 2006. Against Houston in regular season he matched up 6'8 Al Harington on Yao Ming. During sucessfull playoff first round, he matched Stephen Jackson (6'8) on Dirk and was throwing at them random Monta Ellise- Baron Davis combinations, along with 6'6 Pietrus at SF. Guy was way ahead of his time.

From memory, wasn't the Bulls the last team to average a FG% north of 50% as a team for a season?
Shooting mattered in the 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, and the idea that "it matters now" is not revolutionary.
The reason why a DeRozan-type usually does not lead a team to a championship is a lack of efficiency (he was efficient last year though). And this is THE REASON either Suggs or Fultz needs to get their eFG% above 50% for this team to start winning games.
Taking this argument to Bol, as it is his thread, he projects to be very efficient with his own shooting. The question for me is whether he has the body type to have the fitness required to avoid being winded rapidly so he can be a two-way player for more than 5 minute stretches.

I don't know what Bol in nba should be and what he is.
We have 9 games of college (258 min)
8 games of G league ( 154 min)
53 games in nba ( 328 min)
When you put it all down, he played 12 hours of ( official ) basketball from 2018-2022. That's 3 hours a year.
Only 3 times in his entire nba career he was able to play for more than 20 min. But only once since rookie year.
And he failed medical exam for Pistons, and didn't suit up once for Orlando, witch means he played 30 min of basketball since Janaury first, 2022.
i have very long list of reasons why players like him and Maker fail in nba. But that's story for another day. ( in nutshell they were not groomed to be useful basketball players but to look good in empty gym when scouts come to see them , Bamba fits this as well, there was footage around draft of him playing Ayton, and he couldn't score in any way ,shape or form against Ayton because he didn't know how to play like big , because he was groomed into "shooter" . One ended up with max exstension, other with unguaranteed 2 years contract, it's not hard to know who is who ).

we know that he wasnt talented enough, even while hurt, that teams we willing to keep him around. Embiid sat for what, 2 years? Blake for a year. Zion. if a player is talented, a team will keep them around. Bol has questions about his talent and especially his motor. I personally will expect zero from him, would be happy to see him contribute but wouldnt realistically see more than an end of the bench guy coming in during blowouts.

I have absolutely zero expectations, but im all for experimentation at this point in a rebuild.
Bol is a worthwhile one imo.

According to Khobi, Suggs and Franz were the other 2 with the big lineup. But they lost 8-2 to Cole, Ross, Schofield, Okeke and Bamba.

Cole was asked about the experiment and he said he was not with that group. His group was beating whomever he was playing against 8-2.

When Cole said that, I took that as he wasnt one of the other 2 players with that group. Not that he wasnt on the court. And thats what Khobi is saying too.

Re: Bol Bol Experiment?
Orlando needs to find value in taking chances on guys like Bol for once.
I’m hoping he turns out to be part of the rotation off the bench. The Magic need to win one in that aspect of squeezing value from reclamation projects.
There’s been way too many of instances where a guy leaves Orlando and becomes better than when they were here.

He is basically a more agile and skilled shawn bradley.
However, I do believe he is capable of being able to play more minutes given a consistent role when healthy.
I think it would be absurd to say he is incapable given his team has been trying to win, and thus more minutes will be given to their star players. The nuggets, despite having Jokic, who plays the same position as Bol, in last 3 years, havent had a lot of lopsided games where they can develop players. Obviously they’d be playing Jokic and Jokic’ backup most of the minutes.
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/nuggets-best-point-differential-per-game-season-team-history
I think this year is the make or break for him and Bamba. I do think this year they’ll be given a lot of opportunities, if they still fail to show up, then it is a goodbye for them.

I don't know why. But this Bol Bol experiment now just makes it exciting for me. Dude has skills and tall.
I am not expecting another KD, but I believe he can be a serviceable player and crack the rotation

Suggs, Wagner, Banchero, Bol, Carter.
Just as i expected except Bol instead of Isaac. We must experiment with that kind of lineups there is no reason not to. Its strength is protecting the paint and Cole team had 5 out offense so the perfect counter.
