This are NOT official lineups or rotations btw. Just speculation based on the injuries and the preseason.

Most recent two #1 picks to start the season? I like it. I think Paolo out-stats Cade but the Pistons get the W.

Jaden Ivey is Detroit's X-factor IMO. I don't know who's healthy on our team but I'd like to say Fultz or Suggs are our X-factors.

On another note, I'm excited to see Cade vs Paolo.

I have a lot of excitement for this season.

It may not result in the wins we hope for (or don’t hope for come March), but for the first time in the 6 plus years I’ve posted in these opening night game threads, I can see a very bright light at the end of the tunnel.

At our foundation, Franz/Paolo are two building blocks I’m fully confident will develop into something special. I, and many of us, had to talk ourselves into Dipo or Gordon or Mario or Vuc or Isaac or Fultz (I could keep going), but these two are different.

That’s not to mention somebody like WCJ who I think, if everything goes right, is going to be a hugely impactful player for us on some contending teams in the next 2-6 seasons. Cole as a sixth man and Suggs as a point of attack defensively gifted guard are players I can envision playing on those teams as well.

I’m just hoping, for once, we can see the trio of Franz/Banchero/WCJ play 70 plus games together this season. If that happens, regardless of our win total, this season will be a success in my eyes.

So cheers to another opening night fellas! I think payoff is finally in store for those of us who have dealt with the pain of the last decade.

LETS GO!

To be honest, looking at rosters, I legit think we have a better team.

Also I know it doesnt mean much but Detroit lost all their preseason games.

Cunningham, Ivey and Bey were all quite bad shooting the 3 in the preseason.

Bey 8-27 .296
Cunningham 5-23 .217
Ivey 2-14 .143

Probably won't carry over, but worth monitoring early on at least.

I like Cade, but I just want Franz to make people wonder why Cade was picked ahead of him tonight.

Vamos!

So much this.

I get Detroit is a bigger and more storied franchise, but you'd swear Cade was the second coming the way he's being talked about.

The reality is he was äss for most of the season before turning it on to some degree at the end. But even then it's not like he was lights out. He was solid.

I will say that on paper the partnership with Ivey should be a complementary one, though I personally didn't rate either of them that.highly.comimg put of their drafts.

I just want Franz to make it impossible to avoid the comparison with Cade and impossible to reach any conclusion other than Franz is the better player at present.

Yep. I've been following Detroit and Houston heavily since we're in similar stages of our rebuilds. Cade looked TERRIBLE during the preseason... not that it means anything yet.
