With 14 games played for Suggs and 15 for Fultz, who's better?

Interesting enough, both Jalen Suggs and Markelle Fultz have played near identical games played (Suggs 14 and Fultz 15) and also have averaged almost identical minutes played during their stints, in addition to never playing not even 1 game together with each other.

Fultz was of course injured to start the season while Suggs was healthy, and miraculously Fultz was ready as soon as Suggs got injured himself. I would imagine that the Magic are comparing the two to decide who is going to be their lead guard of the future.

It's certainly arguable that Suggs can be the starting SG alongside Fultz, but most fans seem to want an upgrade at SG and allow Suggs to be the PG if Fultz gets the boot. Take a look at how nearly identical their stats have been...

Although I think Suggs is the better player, one of these guys has to learn to shoot the ball to be considered part of the future. If not, they are both expendable.

Wow that is oddly similar but you can see how lower TOs and higher %s just shows that Fultz has the better IQ and plays far more under control. When we are talking the PG position that’s a pretty big deal.

That being said…Suggs is Uber aggressive. If he can learn to control it…watch out. He also badly needs to learn to handle the ball better. I don’t think Fultz can get much better than he is unfortunately. I do think Suggs will get much better though. I would pick Suggs if we had to choose.

Who's the better defender?

Who is more clutch?

Who has less NBA experience?

Further if you voted Fultz you lack understanding of what a winning basketball player looks like nor do you care.

What's missing here is the KEY stat: wins.

I define a winning basketball player as a player that wins. Fultz thus wins this argument based on that criteria.

If suggs becomes a good 3pt threat I d move him in the starting lineup and have Franz+PB+him share the ball handling duties

Suggs
Franz
PB
Ji
Wcj

Bench
Fultz
Harris/Cole
Chuma/Houstan
Bol
Moe/mo

If Suggs can get a 35% three ball on his 5 3-ball attempts per game, yes he is there starter. I dislike the notion of F-Wagner as a SG, based on your above depth chat.

A consolidation trade is needed to move this team forward. And after Bamba, Ross and Okeke are traded, it will need to include one of the three PGs.

My dream rotational depth chart:

Suggs-or-Fultz/Anthony
some vet/G-Harris
F-Wagner/Bol
Banchero/Isaac
Carter/M-Wagner

Plus the deep bench of add-in players from the above trades, Hampton, Houstan and the 2-wayers.

Franz wouldn't be our SG as we play positionless basketball

Just 5 2-way players that can pass ,score and defend multi position

Franz can guard SG but SG can't guard him
Suggs is our jrue/ smart type of player
JI is our front Court défensive BEAST

Fultz is pretty much the same player he was when we got him, he can't be a part of a team challenging for the title or even for a deep playoff run. Suggs still has a shot to be such a player since he is much younger. So if we are talking about the fiuture, the choice is pretty easy.

Two guards who can't shoot 3s playing together is a terrible idea in the modern NBA.

If we had to choose right now, neither is the future because they can’t shoot and can’t stay healthy.

Suggs has time to improve, but it’s very concerning that he can’t stay on the court. Guys like that never develop, and Fultz is a great example. Markelle has been here 4 years and his statistical production has flat-lined. Suggs is on his way to becoming the same story.

For both players, the most important stat is games played, because until that improves, you can’t even evaluate them. A serious team intent on winning would stop investing in them.

Who even knows with Suggs? It's like has never been healthy long enough to get into great shape.

I'm getting Grant Hill vibes from his surgically repaired ankle.

Suggs during his rookie year had no control, no handles, no shooting and missed almost half his games but with that said he looked much better this year. Fultz feels more like a floor general but hasn't improved as much as we'd like either way he's consistent so I'd go with him at pg. Nothing is set in stone as Suggs is still improving so come April i might flip flop my answer.

Neither. Suggs might have a role as a starting SG one day if he can improve as a shooter.

I said neither at this point, but Suggs has a shot to improve. We do need him to come back after the all star break to see what we have in him. He was looking great at times when he was aggressive before the injury.

Fultz can still have a place on this team but it will require taking more threes. Although he is better than Suggs percentage wise, you can see in Suggs that he wants so badly to be that guy who can score all over the floor.

Both are young, both have time, and neither are there…I just like Suggs’ chances a bit more. Wouldn’t hesitate to draft a replacement unless something changes.

Here I agree. And in this context, this means Orlando cannot keep both. There will need to be a choice made.

One is their 6th season making $17m/2

One is in their 2nd season making $7m/3

There is your answer.

“Neither” isn’t an option. You can’t compare players to those that hypothetically aren’t even on the roster as options.

And-1

Relative to contract status, I agree that Suggs is the answer to this posed question.

Suggs is a try hard
