It really is that easy. I never understood the Bol hype. I want him to succeed and he is a nice nugget, but he is mostly hype it seems.

You do realize that Bol Bol has by far the highest upside of any player that the Magic have on the team.
He is not the best right now and is really raw and has major injury issues.
Bol Bol has the kind of talent that you wait for and develop.
He has the potential to be a difference maker in the NBA, and those are not common.

I don’t agree but I’m trading him to whatever GM thinks so for a solid haul

I think the trade value assigned to him by other teams would be sobering for a lot of fans here

So what is the trade value? Or the "hype". What do people see him developing into?

No, I don't see it, and for a moment I wanted too, but now I do not know what I am seeing at all. With JI training with the main squad were about to find out I wager depending on who lands minutes where and when.
So what is Bol bol's ceiling in a perfect world? Vs the Bol bol we likely get, vs the player whom he is now remaining the same?

Throw the question on the general trades thread. I’m actually curious what Bol’s value is on the trade block.
It feels sacrilegious to trade someone like Bol given Orlando never earns found money in prospects. However, it’s obvious there are other bigger glaring weaknesses that need to be addressed on the roster and splitting minutes with Paolo/Franz/Carter, or mismatched lineups, aren’t necessarily the ideal situation.
As far as this thread goes… the OP had it right as far as level of importance for wins. However, nobody should really be cut because Orlando needs all the value they can get.

Re: Start, Bench, Cut
Start Suggs
Bench WCJ
Cut Bol
WCJ is better than Suggs but i think Isaac is a better fit next to Banchero. We need more rim protection and Carter falls a little bit short. Paolo is a big body and should be just fine guarding bigger centers. We can always start Carter against Jokic or Embiid.
Suggs/?/Wagner/Banchero/Isaac
Carter payroll is of a reserve so it makes sense financially.

Cutting any of these 3 is a terrible idea, they are all on contracts which make them very good trade assets.

Thats the whole point, its a what if scenario. Not real life.

+1 Not to disparage our players. Or to show how good I am at counting.... We are right at 5th worst in the league. With a young 1/2 potentially in Paulo and Franz nobody else is really truly untouchable. Choice for the given scenario addresses our most glaring weaknesses, not another "project" that we wait and see develops.
Our winning streak taught us if we had 1 more solid 3rd option and or some shooters to spread the floor something magical can happen with our roster. Bol bol does neither and is further projected away from providing either.

Bol Bol has no trade value. His injury history means no one really wants him. It is why the Magic got him so cheap.
His ceiling is higher than any draft pick for the last several years. He is stronger than Chet, taller than Chet, more athletic than Chet and a much better offensive player than Chet. Chet has much better defensive instincts.
Up until the beginning of the season, they both had about the same minutes played post high school. Bol Bol is more raw than any player I have seen in a long time. But for a 7'2" man to have those kinds of skills and talents and being this raw is really rare.
And maybe his motor goes down also as he gets successful. Lots of drawbacks. But that kind of ceiling you wait and see what happens. Difference makers are very rare in the NBA and to get one handed to you is worth being patient and see what happens.
And a 7'2" difference maker? Even more rare. Even if they were to get a huge haul for Bol Bol, which I know that they would not because he is simply not that good, I would trade every player on the team other than Paolo and Franz before trading Bol Bol.
Now his odds of reaching the ceiling are quite low, but the Magic are a 30 win team. If Bol Bol reaches his ceiling, they are a multiple championship team. I think that being patient and seeing what happens is worth the wait.
Again, not saying he is very good right now. But he has some special abilities that no one else in the league has at that size. The last player that I have seen like Bol Bol in terms of raw ability and size is Ralph Sampson. Sampson's career started great but never matured due to injury and I suspect the same for Bol Bol.

A lot of big guys have foot injuries early in their careers and overcome it.AaronB wrote:JoshuaPotter wrote:AaronB wrote:You do realize that Bol Bol has by far the highest upside of any player that the Magic have on the team.

True, but being so raw amplifies every injury

Re: Start, Bench, Cut
One can argue they all are bench quality, so the question who to cut comes down to on-court value they currently provide or perceived potential. WCJ provides highest on-court value, but it is too early to speak in absolutes on potential Suggs has, let alone Bol whom we have seen only for couple of months.

Re: Start, Bench, Cut
Gimme a start bench cut Fultz Cole Suggs, that's somewhat juicy.
Start - Suggs
Bench - Cole
Cut - Fultz
The reasoning behind that is we know what Cole is, he's a microwave coin toss ross type of player. I'm fine with that on his salary and expectations from day 1 after we begrudgingly drafted him.
Fultz is who he is, a little bit better Elfrid Payton who still needs shooters around him to get the most out of him. If Fultz didn't have that #1 pick aura around him people would have a much different opinion. I'd also venture to say Fultz has a much better cast he's getting to play with. Gimme that extra 15M in space to grab whoever is needed after the draft.
Whose Who?
Suggs you can see it some nights, but the consistency isn't there yet however he's still on a rookie deal so I'm not giving up yet. He needs to start and get into a rhythm and work through his issues.

A scoring guard.. never heard of one.
