The roster now once again sits at a full 15 players with one open two-way slot.

Bitadze and Schofield took Ross and Beverley's spots.

Hampton has not been formally waived yet.

Very good decision. Schofield has passion and energy which will benefit us even if he doesnt play. He will be happy he is here while Hampton seemed a little entiteled.

I guess this means the Magic has a 2-way slot available. Correct?

Really?

Wow, I'd have said, in a run-in to an off-season where we're going to be active, it's much more important to have players with a decent possibility of garnering league interest than roster fillers who play 100%.

In that sense, I find the move pretty underwhelming. Kevon Harris at least has something about him than smells of upside.

But realistically, I'd be looking for another Bol type reclamation project.

This is like a reward for Admiral's loyalty or something?

Must be as I would have preferred Kevon Harris but Admiral does play hard and has strong interpersonal/leadership skills... and hey he was named after a British insurance company!

Who did you want to sign right now ? I think we will sign both Kevon and Admiral. Its perfect time to male some favors to players and agents. More players will want to come to us and stay like Bol. I also think Schofield impacts winning more than Bol but without all that hype. ( not that he is something more than a reserve)

I figured he was staying since we didn’t assign him to the g-league. Kevon Harris also deserved for his contract to be converted. I will admit, this makes me sad because I think Devin Cannady deserved that too.

As for player skills, i too prefer Kevon and think he can bring more wins than Admiral. However? I think they are doing this because Admiral is practically the elder statesman for the team now

Happy for him..... However why him and not kevon? Don't have the stats in front of me but wasn't kevon better on both ends?

I’m good with this move. Kevon may also be converted but he is a guard and we really don’t have any minutes until injury.

Makes sense. Magic rewarding the good soldier

The way I see our two-way players, there are both multi-positional players. In preparation for the load management on injuries management is doing.

I would say it is safe to assume that we arent going for a play-in spot, because imo, it is easy to fill the empty roster spot with more serviceable player but still we are rewarding useless players.

Good stuff, well deserved.

I remember reading about him as a prospect before his draft and liking his chances of sticking in the league for a while.

Here's his rest conference on this:

He clearly states the goal, now, is this year's playoffs. He states the target is the 8-seed explicitly.

"Continue to impact winning": nice quote!

During some of the summer league behind-the-scenes videos it was pretty clear Admiral was almost acting like a coach on the court for those guys, giving them words of motivation and whatnot. I'm guessing this is a reward for his clubhouse work more than his on-court stuff.
