If the Bulls Get a Top 4 Pick... Now what?

Post#1 » by mattdelray1220 » Sun May 14, 2023 1:21 pm

I understand the possibility is small but it is still something to think about. Say the Bulls jump up and we only have 1 pick this year. Most likely 7-8. Does this effect who we pick there? Does this make it more and less likely we look to trade? Interested to see what the board thinks. I know we will know in a few days but still fun! Or NOT FUN to think about.

hmm, at 7-8 we are likely picking from the likes of Ausar, Whitemore, Hendricks, Wallace, Walker, Black, Keyonte, Gradey.

We have tons of needs that this pick can address. A rising star at shooting guard is a positional need. Skill set wise we need shooting and ball control.

With one pick instead of two we could be looking to bundle as many solutions into one pick as possible. And in that case I think we take Keyonte.

One reality is that it is very, very unlikely the Magic will draft 6th. Some lower team is statistically quite probably to overtake Orlando, unless the Magic themselves go top-4.

It is more lilly the Magic with draft 8th than 6th!

It is more likely the Magic will win the lottery and select overall #1 than draft 6th.

If we get both picks, I like picking a high-upside forward with one (Walker, Hendricks, Whitmore...) but it's a luxury pick...We NEED shooting and I'm expecting to get that at 12 with CHI pick. If we're down to one pick, we have to go shooting. A guy like Dick could get drafted early by us, based on that dire need, if we can't count on grabbing Dick, Hawkins, Sensibaugh, Whitehead at 12.

These thread titles… man…

To your question, there’s nothing we can do about it if it happens so why worry about it? We move on , look forward to our pick and hope that next year’s Bulls pick goes our way. We’ll still have our top 8 pick with Franz, the ROY, and a great cast of young players.

I agree with you. We move on and are still in a good position. I was just curious because the consensus is high upside 1st pick and 3pt shooter the 2nd pick. If we miss on the 2nd pick does it alter how the Front Office drafts?

I am of the thinking that if we stay at 7 or 8, we are trading one of the 2 picks for future assets for a future trade or a lesser pick (a project, high risk, potential high reward, for example, Whitehead) this year and future assets. Bringing in 2 similar rookies that require similar playing time will be tough. If we get Wemby and still have the Bulls pick, then I see us keeping both.

The SRP looks destined to lead to Orlando's favourite trade of draft night: Cash Considerations.

That or Orlando is drafting for its new, third TW contract.

True…kind of like our usual inability to have any influence whatsoever in ORL trajectory  it’s just for fun, like everything here. Why is this thread any different?

The title reads as if it actually happened. That’s my only issue with the thread.

Not a big deal. We just get their 1st next season with less protection.

And-1

It is my opinion that it is probable that the pick will be better than 11 next season.

The risk is that if the Bulls go top-4 next year as well, the pick reverts to two SRPs from 2025. If the Magic end up win two-times Cash Considerations, we will not be happy.

So: let's just pray this pick conveys so we don;'t all lose sleep next lottery.

Yeah, I'll be disappointed if it doesn't convey this year, but it'll be all right. It looks like it'll be hard to carry and give playing time to two lottery rookies with our roster now, anyway. It would be a bit concerning that the high pick might turn things around for Chicago, along with possible other moves. We'd just have to hope that they stay mediocre.

Now if they'd get a top 3 pick next year then as well, and it converts into two 2nd rounders, THEN I'll actually break/throw stuff. That is just a terrible scenario based on horrible luck. Didn't we have that happen with a Laker pick or smt recently?

I do kinda like the prospects available at 11 (or 12) this year -compared to history- for us though, so like above poster said, I'd very much like to just have it and not have to stress about it next year.

Gradey Dick
Cam Whitmore
Cason Wallace
Keyonte George
Kris Murray
Jordan Hawkins
Cam Whitmore
GG Jackson
Nick Smith

Half those guys will be available at 11. THere is so much to like!

Heck: I would also be OK if the Magic drafted Leonard Miller at 11.

Two biggest gut punches on Tuesday night would be:
1: Portland wins the lottery, and get Wembanyama with our ping pong balls.
2. Chicago hops us into the top 4 pushing us down a spot and pushing our pick out another year...I'd say at least you get next year's pick, but is a bad draft at least at the top, and you never know, the Bulls should have probably blown things up at this deadline, maybe they would with a high pick and the possibility of another.....though I doubt it...seems like they are perfectly content with where they are.

I see this potentially happening if we land lets say 7 and 11.

What if the price was 8 and Suggs?

I'd push for 8 & Fultz or Cole before Suggs.
