Sotto will be auditioning for a Two-Way Contract.

https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/06/23/23/sotto-to-play-for-orlando-in-nba-summer-league-report

Teams have 3 Two-Way deals under the new CBA.

Currently, The Magic have 1 filled with Kevon Harris.

I didn't know anything about Kai Sotto, but from the looks of things he's 7 foot 3 and from the Philippines? Anyone know anything about his actual game?

Shouldnt we ask those who follow the Aussie league? I mean he plays there right? Lets ask Ben.

From 10 minutes of my pro youtube scouting, here's what I got: he's 7'3 and moves like you expect a 7'3 athlete to move. His frame is decently filled out for his age (just turned 21) though, so he's not a total stick figure. He mostly just does typical big man stuff. Block some shots, grab some boards, and make easy finishes around the hoop. Lefty jumpshooter from the like 5 shots I saw him take, but I also saw him hit a runner right handed, along with a lot of close finishes with his right. Touch around the basket seems decent, but I didn't see anything advanced in terms of post-up creation or anything like that. The outside shots I saw and his ft% indicate that he might be an okay mid-range shooter for his size, but most of his work still comes from in close (as it should).

Let's be realistic, he's probably just a big summer league body who can play with the prospects we're more invested in and not detract too much from their development. He's still pretty young but I don't see level of mobility he would need for a real nba career. He'll be a fun curiosity with his size and Oceanic background, anyway. If he's actually one of the bigs getting minutes in our summer league games, at least.

I wonder who else will be on the squad.

Having watched a bit of the NBL as an Australian, he's fairly solid from the defensive end, however doesn't really have the range to the three point shot, has decent touch around the basket and handle is okay for a big guy, I don't think he will be athletic enough for the nba as some of the guys with nba experience seemed to be able to move past him, summer league will be good experience but think he is a few years away from even a two year contract however has seemed to work hard and continues to develop over the past couple of years.

I’m from Philippines.

He’ll surely garner some views but he isn’t worth noting. I dont think he is nba caliber. Haha

I expect Houstan to play too.

Black should have plenty of space to operate.

Oh yeah, definitely. That should at least be a semi-decent, fun perimeter then.

On this Hoops Hype page, Kevon Harris is also listed on the summer league roster.

Will our SL guards(Black, K. Harris & Jett) out shoot our young vet guards(Fultz, Suggs & Cole)?

Wow didn't know we invited Sotto
I remember looking into his last year and thought someone would of taken a shot on him since he's so athletic for his size and seems to have skills

Would love to see him make it to training game or a 2way

If Kai is playing for us, I would have wanted to face SAS. See two 7-foot big bodies do work.

Always enjoy summer league and seeing the rooks and 2 way prospects play, nice pallette cleanser before the start of the season proper!
I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era

We don’t need the gibberish of my countrymen.

Some even say he is better than Victor. HAHAHA
