Surprised we're holding onto Goga. He was solid, but this to me means that either Wagner is done here, or we just re-sign him and pick up Harris' and Bol's deal and call it an offseason.

I figured MCW and Schofield were not coming back so that we can sign Jett and Howard.

It doesn’t mean anything for Moritz necessarily. Goga makes less than the veteran minimum.
Even if the Magic see him as a third stringer center, the cost was too low to not pick up.

It may mean we're going to add a veteran in free agency to be a good lockeroom guy. Maybe Ross again.

As part of the keep Goga, let go of Moe train, I'm happy so far.

Re: Magic Exercise Team Option on C Goga Bitadze, Decline Team Options on MCW, Schofield
This was expected.
The Magic now have 10 guaranteed deals(Assuming Anthony Black and Jett Howard sign).
The contracts for Markelle Fultz, Gary Harris and Bol Bol become guaranteed if they are not waived by the end of the day tomorrow. There is some suspense on Gary Harris (I think they keep him) but if they all become guaranteed, that is 13.
Jonathan isaac is part-guaranteed this year due to injury protection in his contract. He is not expected to be waived so that is 14.
This means there is one spot left on the 15 man roster.
One of the three Two-Way Deals is filled with Kevon Harris.
So, unless The Magic are planning to make a trade or cut someone, this roster is pretty set.

I don’t get this reasoning at all. It’s one thing if Mo wants to move to another team, but us releasing him against his(and more importantly Franz) wishes is borderline stupid and makes no sense.

Mo Wagner was extremely good for us this year. I really hope he comes back as primary backup to Wendell. And nice to have Goga back too.

I appreciate Admiral, but that was the right decision. Now, whenever we have an injury, I would not mind scooping him up immediately if no other team has him. I still think we need another big. When WCJ misses time, Goga isn't the best starting center if we're going to be making a playoff push.

Yeah im all for keeping Mo and Goga. Somehow i really cant see WCJ playing more than 65 games RS.
Also like it or not, Mo has that IT factor. Thats right, a magic-killer in reverse. When other teams scaratch their heads when they see a scrub channel his inner Dirk/Kareem/Dream and torch them.

Well, firstly it's not releasing. He's a UFA. I think he's going to want more than we want to give him.
Secondly, I just don't value low rebounding, mediocre three pointing, bad defense bigs that much.
He's done his job well. Made it a comfortable transition for Franz and picked us up with his energy and bucket getting.. I just saw way too many plays that made me think he's best served as a 3rd stringer/energy guy on a good team and what he may want money wise will clash with our future.

One regular contract and two 2-way contracts to go. I smell a trade brewing.

Re: Magic Exercise Team Option on C Goga Bitadze, Decline Team Options on MCW, Schofield
Not a surprise. He is an incredibly cheap contract and they can see if he develops into something worth keeping. Right now he has a lot of work to do to stay on the roster once this team gets better but he is young at least. Work on that three pointer, young man!
If this roster is more or less set, as some people suggest, that is negligence on the part of the FO to upgrade this roster.

Today's were pretty easy calls...Harris and Bol will be the most telling for our summer. Is Weltman taking the summer off post-draft or just getting going?

Happy with this.
Moe is now a PF more rhan a C. His continuity depends a lot on Isaac's future with the Magic.

These were good but no brainer moves. Goes to show that spending lottery picks on big man projects....Bamba....is dumb when you can grab capable bigs like Goga in free agency.
