I'm just glad there's at least one dedicated person in town again.

Jason is a good kid (and I don’t mean that as an insult, he’s just a young guy) and has been covering UCF really well the last couple of years. I think he’s gonna do a good job.

Kid? He looks like a 40 year old

Also, how long will the Orlando Sentinel be a thing? I can’t imagine that the local paper business is a striving market in 2023.

I believe Jason graduated UCF in 2020. He's no more than mid 20s. But a young and hungry guy is what you want on the beat anyway.

I wish him the best. Seems like a good gig that could take you places.
The thing I always fear with these guys is getting someone who doesn’t know much or care much about the sport… the best ones are the ones that truly understand and love the game they are covering.

Dude got a heat shirt on in one of his photos on ig. Gtfo with that. Guys like that shouldn't be covering the magic.

You do realize the last two guys that covered the Magic are covering the Lakers and Wizards now? I don't personally care who the hell they like

- as long as good info comes out

He is 24 ( or that's best i could figure), he was like 15 when most of tweets happened.

At that age i thought that climbing excavator on New Year in 4 in a morning was brilliant idea for picture. it wasn't.

Let's see how good chatGPT 4.0 is at taking box-scores and AP quotes and turning that to 1000 words of print.

Uh, looking at the collection of tweets, not just the picture, it does seem like he has been and still is a self-proclaimed "Heat lifer".
Which is fair and all, but I'm not sure how I would feel about him being the main Magic beat writer.
Then again I don't read the Sentinel so what do I care.

I like this for 2 reasons:
1). He is a “real” basketball fan not just a journalist assigned to a beat. Hopefully that means he understands the game and can therefore ask better questions and provide analysis.
2). As a Heat fan, he knows excellent coaching and front office work, so maybe he can be more objectively critical of our team and ask more probing and challenging questions. In the past, I felt the Sentinel Magic beat writers were a little too accommodating (or gullible) to the front office and coaches.

Jason will do fine. He covered UCF well.
Do I like that he’s a Heat fan? **** no, but he’s a professional.
Magic PR will get him off the beat in no time if he’s showing any Heat favoritism while covering our team.

I just wish we could get a writer that isn't afraid to ask an uncomfortable question to the management, and not afraid to print a more reasonable explanation if the answer management gives is complete BS.
Seems like all the guys covering the team now, no idea about Beede, but the blog guys that get press credentials are fan boys, who are so excited that the team is talking to them, the just ask questions that are going to have positive answers.
I bet this board could have a thread where we vote on a question each week that would be far more interesting than any questions that have been asked in the last couple years.
I don't know. What lead to Jett Howard being on top of your board at slot 11, given his struggles on the defensive end? What position do you see Howard at on the current and future squads?
There is a log jam of 4 young guards, all of which have some degree of shooting woes....I mean like what's the plan man?
How hard is it to manage the roster with 15 spots, and a lot of young talent that is still developing and the balance between upside and floor on the end of the bench? Who was the decision between the 15th guy and Bol Bol.
Now I doubt any of the questions get answered in a meaningful way, but maybe it provokes at least a little thought from the FO team, and provides at least a tiny insight into what their plan is.

That's why they have jobs my guy, they just ask the easy questions and do group think/writing. It's also why we have gone through what 3 beat writers in 2 years? We're a boring organization to work for that gives boring answers and minimal involvement in practice/team stuff.
One of the few people who were pushy the Mike "The Bulldog" Bianchi was removed from a good amount of Magic stuff because he asked questions that questioned and was vocal about the path the FO was taking.
The plan is "Evaluate the Youth" which will continue to be the plan until this FO decides to take the next step. How long that takes we will see but I'm hoping this is the last year of that.

You can get a great deal signing up for the digital only version. Something like 3 months for 99 cents a week.
Then after 3 months the price jumps to like 15 bucks a month, but my experience has been if you call them and threaten to cancel, they will extend your promotional rate another 3 months and then you'll basically have had the entire NBA season for a minimal investment.
