Carter is the most underrated player on our team. He is the prototypical switch/space the floor/coordinate offense big everyone is searching right now. Not suprising Heat, Celtics and to some extent Lakers have that kind of center and reach conference finals.
To me he is a lock to start and fits next to Wagner and Banchero more than he is given credit for. I think switching is more important next to Paolo than being a drop big. For the change of pace i would rather play Banchero as C next to rim protecting forward than replacing Carter with bigger less mobile center.
One thing i dont like is that WCJ is not the strongest mentally. He needs dogs and figters next to him, otherwise he loses his confidence fast. Thats why his best minutes were next to F.Wagner, Suggs and K.Harris.

I voted Isaac because that would imply he’s healthy enough to play more than a handful of games.

Honestly, he might be a more complementary fit with Paolo and Franz going to the hoop so much. A WCJ/ Isaac platoon would be a heck of a combo. Either could also back up 4 if they both can handle the minutes. Plenty of PT for both.

I'll bite since I created this thread and we are now entering the slow period of basketball...

I voted Isaac. Mosely has said it himself before... that he doesn't try to find players that fit his system, but he wants to get the best players he can and he'll make his system work around that. We've seen his funky rotations and know he's not afraid to experiment even when things aren't working. So if that's the case and Isaac is healthy, I don't see any way where our best 2 way player comes off the bench.

We came into the offseason needing interior defense and we didn't address it in the draft, FA, or trade. Maybe that's because Weltman believes Isaac is the answer.

We all love WCj for taking that dirt cheap contract. We also know that he's a good Center on most days. There are just times when we have total breakdowns because our center does not provide rim protection. We also know that he'll only be healthy for 3/4ths the season at most.

No matter what combination you favor at the 1 or 2, Franz-Paolo-Isaac is our best and most cohesive working 3-5. Fight me.

I was about to say that it is offseason, so of course that he is healthy. But it's Isaac, so... yeah. Achievement worth noting and celebrating.

Going back to the topic, it is WCJ and everything else is pointless. There is miniscule (in my mind - none) chance that Isaac plays most games out of those people, let alone to start them.

You forgot to reopen the thread again! Then someone posted after you, I don't what anything means anymore!!

I would love for Isaac to be healthy enough to challenge for the spot too. And I think he could give it a good nudge even just on fit. But I think the likelihood of him having a good enough run of health and form is so small.

I thought Isaac would come back and play more C last season to reduce his mobility and injury risk as much as possible, but he was playing out on the wing again. For whatever reason, he’s not adapting his game to a lower impact style of play so I just struggle to imagine he can ever provide a durable game.

It’ll be tough to upgrade over WCJ without bringing in a player who’s good enough to demand being a top 2 option.

As good as Wendell is, is he a top 15 center? Could be one reason why he only got $50 million which is not close to a top 10 starting C's like Ayton ($117m) or Davis who is about about to get a supermax.
