Is there anything left for management to do before the pre-season?

Poll: what will the Magic do up to the pre-season

Post#1 » by drsd » Fri Aug 11, 2023 9:46 am

We are all bored, so it's poll time.

Is there anything left for management to do before the per-season?

THe question is through camp, but only up-to pre-season. There might be pre-season moves as well. We can get back to that once we see all the exhibit-10 players when the roster rises briefly to above 20 players.

I called it a consolidation trade, because Herro isn't an All-Star yet...probably the wrong word as getting him will primarily take a pick or two with some players to match salary...I'm thinking Fultz and Harris make the most sense as they are both expiring and both good enough to contribute now-offering the most financial flexibility and possible directions for MIA/POR. This is the only potential trade that seems to be staring us in the face as the summer winds down...Dame and Harden still up in the air and Magic could play some part in a mega-trade, IMO.

Honestly, we're not going to do anything. We'll talk about our next year cap space (like we always do) rather than grab a young guy that is precisely what we'd be looking to find in FA or draft. "Next Year" is always our most exciting offseason. Tell me who's a better get next summer than Herro - for this team.

Grayson Allen + draft assets of some kind for Cole Anthony or another Magic PG?

Or not enough of an upgrade at SG to be worth the trouble? Depends on the pick/s I imagine too.

It makes sense why "next year" typically is the most exciting...and it's not something that's exclusive to us. It's one thing to just look at list of upcoming FA's, but the landscape of the mid/offseason is hard to predict. Teams may have unforeseen struggles through the season and suddenly players become available, players ask out, etc.

What they should do is trade Fultz and bring in a vet PG that can shoot.

Sure...just like THIS summer...they need to do something to improve our floor spacing for Paolo and Franz. Next summer is no better than this summer. Herro being out in the cold while Dame is available is about a good an opportunity as one could hope for until we spend our next year's pick on a lesser guy in the middle of the draft and continue to stockpile 18 year old guys that don't answer our problems and extend 24 year old guys that didn't answer our problems.
