Would you take Dwight Howard back?

Post#1 » by Knightro » Mon Aug 28, 2023 5:22 pm

Obviously there's no room on the roster currently, so this isn't really going to be a thing. But just out of curiosity...

Would you take Dwight Howard back at the league minimum to be a third string center? It sure sounds like he'd be willing to come back

Nope. Would be a huge distraction with zero upside. He burned those bridges. Has to live with it.

Some players can thrive in the big markets like LA and NY. Some players dont realize how good they have it in places like Orlando. I'm sure he has regrets because his reputation took a battering starting from the Dwightmare and onwards.

QFT.

I still root for the guy, but i don't see any benefit to bringing him back. I wouldn't mind if he's like "i'd like a 10 day contract so I can retire as a Magic player" situation. but if he's wanting actual minutes and to actually play (even as a 3rd stringer) i'd pass on the distraction.

Bring him back as a strength coach. Put some of them classic Dwight shoulders on our guys. Anything else, nope. I like to think of the good times we had together and that's enough for me

On court activity absolutely. Off court activity, no.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.-John 3:16

Go Magic, Go Dwight, Go Vuc, Go Paolo, Go Keegan :)

As a player? No. In some other capacity? Maybe someday, but not yet.

No...his personality and ego are too big and his on-court value far too small at this point. He could have perhaps come back to finish his career with a big hug a few years ago...that ship has sailed.

Never. The Dwight Howard we had was a mirage, the real Dwight is a low character, immature nimrod that’s gotten worse with age. We can’t compare him with the bad blood with Shaq coming to end. Shaq grew up and admitted he regretted how his Magic run ended. Dwight has done none of that. He can stay in Singapore or whatever he’s playing.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

This probably won't change your mind but I believe you'll appreciate it on some level.

Could be worse options for 3rd stringer C's but not a pressing need. It would feel like a fever dream though with Dwight and Paolo being on the same team lol

He was a Orlando Great player but he burned those bridges. But will he be honored one day by the Magic? Yes. But I see little upside in bringing him back for a team trying to make a playoff run

I'd be for it. It'd win back some fans that were off put by the team donating to desantis if we brought in an LGBQT player. He can still defend at a decent level

I sure hope nobody you love doesn't burn any bridges and has to live with it!

We all make mistakes, and we all deserve second chances in life! No one is perfect!

Besides, all this Dwightmare started because the team was going in the wrong direction after we lost the 2009 NBA Finals! So in theory if we want to really be bitter, we should be bitter with management for not putting a championship caliber team when Dwight Howard was drafted in 2004!

Better yet refused to offer Shaquille O'Neal a decent contract in free agency! :banghead:
