Yeah, I'd be interested if the asking price isn't too high.

Re: O'Connor: The Magic Should Trade for Jrue Holiday
Pros
-He's still REALLY good - 22nd overall in EPM, 30th overall in BPM, 36th overall in RPM last season
-He can play both PG and SG and can shoot 3s which makes him a good fit with any Magic guard
-He's still one of the very best defensive guards in the game - NBA All-Defense 5 of the last 6 years
-Great in the locker room - 3× NBA Teammate of the Year
-He's shown zero signs of decline
-He likely wouldn't cost THAT much in a trade because he's an expiring contract
Cons
-He's 33 years old
-He's been a bit injury prone, missing approximately 15 games per year in each of the last 5 seasons
-He's an expiring contract
-He's going to command (and get) a very large contract that takes him into his mid 30s
-The Magic could sign him next offseason as a free agent without giving up any assets

Holiday for
Fultz and Isaac
Scoot is currently their only pg, so why not?

If they said...
Holiday for Fultz, Isaac and 1 unprotected 1st round pick - would you do it?
Or
Fultz, Isaac and Jett Howard with no pick - would you do it?

Re: O'Connor: The Magic Should Trade for Jrue Holiday
Fultz+Harris+ Magic 2024 1st top 8 or 10 protected for 2 years + Denver 2025 1st
Seems like a fair deal to me.

Absolutely no to the second option. Expiring Jrue isn’t worth two top 10-15 picks.
Make the first trade a pick swap and sure.
The idea would be for him to start and mentor Black and Suggs until he expires.

Portland will want youth at any position other than where Scoot and Shaedon play. Who has value similar to Jrue? WCj, Franz?

Second option was only Jett and no pick for what it's worth.
Basically what I'm asking is what would you rather give up, a 2024 unprotected 1st or Jett Howard?

They just acquired Ayton, so I assume they wouldn't want Carter.
Franz is obviously a complete non-starter.

If I had to choose between the two I’d say the 2024 pick considering that draft is going to be garbage and we already have a lot of young talent to develop.

I strongly suspect the Blazers would opt for picks over than young players if they had to choose between the two.

I'm good. He already stated that he's retiring in 1-2 years. We have like 3.5 PGs already.

Re: O'Connor: The Magic Should Trade for Jrue Holiday
Yep…ORL 24 (top 5), DEN 25, Fultz, Harris, Okeke
They probably want a frontcourt guy, so maybe sub Isaac for Harris reluctantly. Ideally, the 2 picks are enough given that Jrue is expiring. You’d have to have some understanding that Jrue would come in with a chip on his shoulder and embrace the role on a young, hungry team like CP in OKC and play out of his mind for that last deal…and you’d hope he’d be open to stay. I’d take the risk as I think…
1. picks are generally overvalued
2. I’m hoping to be out of the lottery regardless
3. It's generally regarded as a weak draft
4. We’re already overloaded with young unproven guys- so we don’t need even more
5. Top 5 protection is reasonable in case of catastrophic injury-riddled season
6. We could be really good with a backcourt of Jrue, Suggs, Cole, Black, Howard (one or two of those guys will pop this year)…Jrue, in the past has said he prefers not to play PG full-time, so there’s a variety of interesting combos, given Jrue’s two-way, diverse game.
*I’d rather have young, under contract Herro for essentially the same deal. Idk Jrue’s mindset and how he’d respond to an ORL trade. I’d say POR execs immediately made him available “to a contender “, likely at his request

Re: O'Connor: The Magic Should Trade for Jrue Holiday
Jrue, Jerami Grant to MIA
Herro to ORL
Jovic, Lowry, Fultz, Harris, ORL 24(top 5), MIA 26 frp (unprotected) to POR
MIA loads up with 2 instant strong rotation vets, all-in, ring or bust
ORL gets their young backcourt scorer, concedes FL championship for a couple of years, starts beating MIA around ‘26
POR unloads Grant deal, adds great frontcourt prospect, maintains flexibility with playable expiring vets (Fultz might even stick), and adds 2 solid frps with lotto potential
*MIA & MIL are titans of East for a couple years then die quickly…ORL is ready at that point

He was on a contender and still talked about impending retirement…don’t think a trade to us would suddenly change his mind.

Re: O'Connor: The Magic Should Trade for Jrue Holiday
Yeah the above plus him being on an expiring contract is a red flag to me. That being said I'm still somewhat interested in him as a piece to push our team forward and to teach our young guys how to win in the NBA.
However, realistically I wouldn't give up as much as what other teams would be willing to give up. Specifically the win-now teams. Holiday to the Lakers or something like that seems way more likely to me.

Re: O'Connor: The Magic Should Trade for Jrue Holiday
I really don’t think it’s worth discussing. He doesn’t fit the magic timeline and I’m pretty sure he wants to join a contender. I rather have Fultz stay this season and Black take the PG position next season.

Re: O'Connor: The Magic Should Trade for Jrue Holiday
I wont add a first for him. I consider him mostly a rental. If anything I’d consider moving cole at most as our asset plus fultz and isaac.
We need to free up minutes, and not trading assets for a rental
