Would you be shocked?

Every day the board is speculating on trading x player, trading for x player, FA signings etc.. But would you be shocked if they run this team back again and again and again? Obviously with small tweaks. Ingles eventually becomes Caleb or Jett (maybe some small signing).
Time is ticking on consolidating. The team is gelling. Even hurt we are playing well. Could Fultz get re-signed? Could Gary be our back up with Suggs as the starter be a long term thing? Can growth and continuity be enough to make us real contenders in the East?
I guess I am also finding it hard to find a realistic consolidation move that makes sense for us as well.
It is obvious the FO wanted the option with the team options. Would you be shocked if we stand pat?

I would be shocked. On average I expect 4 new rotation players every year.

I'm not a Fultz hater but I'd be pretty surprised if they stood pat on him. Not shocked because that's how this front office operates, so I have to expect it.

I don't believe any major moves are happening during the season. I think this team is going to be the team for the whole season. I'm dubious of Fultz coming back next year. Everything else standing pat could seem reasonable.

Kinda agree with this. I think this is the team but Fultz is not coming back. But that does make me question, do they just let Fultz expire or trade him?

I wouldn’t be shocked. I do think health is important consideration for JI and WCJ long term.
I feel like a borderline all-star elite shooter could be added. Maybe another vet or two.

We have no space for another max player if we keep Paolo and Franz.

If Fultz does not play 60-70 games this year (does anyone think that his patella tendonitis is going to magically disappear) he is not going to get paid next year. I doubt he gets a full MLE ($13M) for 1 or 2 years.

I'm skeptical Fultz will be back next year one way or the other. So at some point this season management is going to have to make a decision on whether to pursue big name free agents or put together some kind of package of expiring, picks, and/or young guys for either a star or a really solid vet that fills specific needs that maybe has a bloated contract.
Fultz - $17m
Harris - $13m (i doubt we want to trade him, but he might become pretty pricy in the offseason)
Ingles - $11m (team option)
Moe Wagner - $8m (team option)
Okeke - $5.3m (Qualifying Offer)
Goga - $2m
That's over $50m in expiring deals the Magic can entice a team contemplating a rebuild with. Someone like the Bulls would make a lot of sense, who are probably heading that way if they don't turn their season around quickly. Which is why we've seen so much chatter about Lavine (whether he's the right move or not, lol).
I think either way nothing happens until we get closer to ASW. Once there they'll see if the team is playing so well risking team chemistry isn't worth it and they want to wait until the offseason to make any moves.

Which is why they need to be making those moves now or next summer at the latest. In 2-3 years we won't be able to sign anyone new because all of our cap will be tied up. Timing is everything. If it works you have a contender for years. If it doesn't, you're stuck with bloated contracts and it's harder to improve each summer and you're just either treading water or heading towards a prolonged rebuild.

I dunno.. you know how our FO values loyalty ( I think they got scarred with the Shaq and D12 episodes) so I think they will take their time to get a personnel movement done.

I feel like the FO should, and hopefully are already looking at trades for Fultz right now, for a guard like Tyus Jones/Monte Morris/Quickley
There's no reason to sit pat and not get a 1/2 season or more look at the Magic and specifically Paolo & Franz with a PG who can hit an open 3 and has atleast average playmaking ability.
No reason for the Magic to wait until the trade deadline to make the move with Fultz, because there's no chance we keep him past this season

The team is showing it can run just as well if not better without Fultz so I don’t see a place for him when he comes back let alone next season. Gigs is also showing that pressure will be on WCJ too.
But I don’t expect moves this season and I’d be surprised if a big acquisition comes this offseason unless the team really falls apart between now and the playoffs.
The young guys are getting it done and slowly coming into their own. I’m much more interested in following the journeys of Suggs and Black becoming core pieces than I am in watching FVV or an equivalent hold the fort for a couple of seasons.

If we do make a move, I would hope it's for Simons

We aren’t going to net much with Fultz. His knee issues likely seal that deal. Maybe as an expiring but that would be at the trade deadline.

Is there a world where we resign Fultz for like 2yrs/30million and he is the 3rd stringer/mentor?

In what universe do you pay 15M for a 3rd stringer?

Honestly, his ability to change speed/direction and dribble penetrate is CP3-esque and something a young PG would certainly benefit from learning, but it's still not something you pay a dude $15/yr for. If AB is open to learning he should already have been picking up whatever good things Fultz puts out in practice and whatnot.
