Look ahead and our January schedule is going to be brutal

Post#1 » by MasterGMer » Sun Nov 26, 2023 2:17 am

Guys I know we are the hottest team in the NBA right now, with Ws against Defending Champion Denver and home court victory against Boston.

Read on Twitter

Maybe this is the reason why Coach Mosley did this speech with the team in the locker room.

But the toughest part of the schedule is going to kick in very soon. Look ahead, look at our schedule past In Season Tournament in Vegas.

vs Cleveland
at Boston
at Boston
vs Miami
at Milwaukee
at Indiana
at Washington
vs Philadelphia
vs New York
at Phoenix
at Golden State
at Sacramento
at Denver
vs Atlanta
vs Minnesota
at Miami
at OKC
at New York
at Atlanta
vs Philadelphia
vs Miami
vs Cleveland
at Memphis
vs Phoenix
at Dallas
at San Antonio
at Minnesota

I listed to the Feb 2 of 2024. Pretty much before the All Star game, the schedule is going to be brutal. It is awesome for us to nail so many big victories. But the reality is going to set in very soon. Are we a Playoff team? I think that debate is going to be decided on how we react to the schedule listed above.

That is why when we look ahead, we need to stay the course! And that part of schedule is going to decide how this season is going to be defined!

Are we good enough? Is our young core Championship level?

Stay greedy guys! Anything can happen! It is good to celebrate such improvement from the team. But as fans, we all want more!

Stay the course!

17 away games and 10 home games. WOW! Well, Orlando is really getting tested early, brutal stretch. I hope they stay the course. All I want is to be in the mix for the playoffs.

We’ve been winning with depth…most of the best teams in the NBA have very little bench depth beyond their stellar starters. This is a really good place to be for a young team with a defensive- minded young coach. We could beat anybody at any time with this angle…you could say the same for young HOU and OKC…both are deep but have just enough star power up front. Good times…

Star power expresses itself in a playoff series. I don’t think we’ll advance very (in the playoffs) far as is, but it’s still a great step in the right direction. By the end of the season (or maybe TD?) we should have a clearer picture of where upgrades can or should be made, but we’re definitely not looking at an overhaul anymore.

Stay greedy…win all of the games you’re supposed to win and score an occasional upset. We really could (SHOULD) sweep this home stand after a very successful road trip. Pile up the early wins and we’ll get through the inevitable challenges.

I was going to create a similar thread. We look good.. scratch that GREAT. Let's listen to the other quote Coach keeps preaching. "Let's not get too high or too low." We are going to have bad runs. We may lose 3-5 games in a row at some point this season. Probably will. As a fan base we need to be better. We have to stick with these guys no matter what! Very excited about the future but even more excited about NOW!

We face the wizards twice then the Nets to finish off our first 20 games of the season. Can we take the number 1 seed a quarter of the way into the season? Hopefully we get Isaac back soon.

Edit:
Celtics next 3 games are against the Bulls, Sixers and Cavs.
Bucks next 3 games are against he Heat, Bulls, Hawks.

We start the road game at Brooklyn and we are +2.5

It is surprising that we are on a nine game winning streak and still not favored. Maybe it is that we lost to them by 20 in the in season tournament

December and January schedule is going to be tough. We will know more how the team is made of afterward.

Stay the course!

Savvy vet team. Not loaded with talent but solid. Road game on a b2b. Its winnable, but not easy.

They do have one player though ready to leap to stardom so yeah... very hard for us.

Our January schedule is going to be brutal. If we can not stay the course, we can possibly lose 8 or 9 games in a row. Lots of road games against Playoff teams and home games against contenders. I am just waiting to see when Markelle comes back. Hope he can give us a boost, but not so much. He has been disappointing this season and I am sure his clock is tickling.

This team proved we can hang on with anybody. But it is not going to be easy.

What is your guys prediction of January schedule?

Next two are winnable, @Wiz and vs 76ers. We'd be 19-11 and have another 3-2 five game span under our belt.

The following five include a home game against the Knicks and a West Coast trip. Going to be extremely tough to go 3-2.

I imagine 1 of 2 things happen.

1) We go .500 as is expected to be our baseline. Regardless of whom we are playing. Some nights, well beat the suns, other nights well struggle against the Spurs.

2) Our young team surprises us and continues to find ways to win above .500. I think 3-2 is closer to our peak. The boys have been slumping, playing some bad matchups, and essentially had championship teams make statement games.

Not sure the 76ers would be considered "winnable". our 2nd night of B2B against a team that no one has a record better than over the last 10 games(8-2). Now, if Embiid is still out.....

January schedule

at Golden State - W
at Sacramento - L
at Denver - L
vs Atlanta - W
vs Minnesota - W
at Miami - L
at OKC - L
at New York - L
at Atlanta - W
vs Philadelphia - L
vs Miami - W
vs Cleveland - W
at Memphis - W
vs Phoenix - W
at Dallas - L
at San Antonio - W

9-7 overall for January. But could easily see that be 7-9.
10 Road Games makes it really difficult. Not too many B2Bs, not sure how our opponent's schedules play out that way. A lot of the games above I could see being toss ups.

The question really becomes can the team get healthier and be a bit more consistent from distance. If so, they can easily go 10-6 in this stretch. I think it's an easier stretch than the last two weeks of December, but still fairly tough.

If the Magic plays 50% ball the rest of the season, this team finishes with a 44-38 record. If the Magic continues to play at their current rate, then the team finishes 50-32.

It has got to be every fans expectation that the 44 wins to 50 wins is the window the Magic land within. Correct?
That has Orlando from the 4-seed to the 7-seed. Meaning the direct-playoffs are more likely than the play-ins.

at OKC - L. Paolo stinks it up trying to out-prove Chet
at New York - W. We don't miss that game
at Atlanta - W. Overtime thriller
vs Philadelphia - L. Embid kills us
vs Miami - W. Blow them out unexpectedly
vs Cleveland - W. Revenge game
at Memphis - L. Ja beats us up

The X-Factor is whether or not Orlando makes a play for another guard with reliable shooting / scoring (Tyus Jones, Anfernee Simons, so on) by trading away Fultz, Picks and others. A deal like that throws all of this analysis out the window.
