% Chance that Paolo Makes the All-Star Team

Post#1 » by ogmagicfan » Sun Dec 24, 2023 5:53 am

Paolo is averaging 21.2 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 4.5 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.6 BPG at 47.0 FG & 38.3 3 PT % and Orlando is 17-11, 4th in the East

He'd be vying for a reserve All-Star Spot

We could have our first All-Star since Vuc

In the All-Star Reserves, they will have 3 front court players and 2 wildcards from any position. Paolo will have to grab one of those 5

Players that Paolo would be battling out with for a frontcourt reserve spot include:

Jimmy Butler is averaging 21.5/5.2/4.6
at 46.2/37.7 & 1.1 SPG & 0.4 BPG with a 17-12 record, 5th in East

Scottie Barnes is averaging 20.3/9.1/5.9 at 48.7/37.7 & 1.5 SPG 1.4 BPG with a 11-18 Record, 12th in the NBA

Mikal Bridges is averaging 21.4/5.4/3.8 at 45.6/37 & 0.9 SPG & 0.4 BPG with a 14-15 record, 9th in the East

Julius Randle: Averaging 22.7/9.5/5.2 at 46.4/29.3 with a 16-12 record, 6th in the East

Edit:

Jaylen Brown: Averaging 22.8/4.9/3.7 at 48/33.9 & 1.1 SPG & 0.7 BPG, 22-6 Record, 1st in East

I think he only gets in if we stay in the top 6 come all-star weekend. It’s important that we keep winning.

Yeah, I hoped he would get in but I just looked at the list and I don't think he gets in unless the magic keep on winning. The frontcourt looks tough. Embiid, Tatum, and Giannis will be the obvious starters. The reserves will likely be Brown, Bam, Mikal, and Butler. And Paolo would still have to compete with guys like Randle, Siakam, and Barnes.

Keep in mind that around allstar game, players tend to get hurt often, lot of players who get selected, can't play, so he can easly step in as replacement.
I'm looking forward to see vote distribution between him, Scottie Barnes and Siakam

Which is kind of funny considering the Raptors are trash.

Lines up with the Ringers top 100 players or whatever.

How do you have two top 40 players (plus OG) and get allstar nods before Paolo and Franz, but your team is won 11 games total by January? Maybe they are overrated and not actually as good as people think.

Reserves are selected by the coaches, right? So if the standings stay the same i doubt 2 toronto players will make it.

Good call on Bam & Brown, forgot about them.

Yeah it'll be tough, I think Paolo can make it as a replacement rather than an official choice unless the Magic stay 5th seed and with a better record than the Heat. Which I could see him making it over Jimmy & Mikal

If we're a top 5 or 6 seed then you'd think we'd be represented

With how well Paolo is playing and how he is carrying this team there is no reason he should not be an All-Star.

The way Paolo is playing right now, he's a shoo-in.

Allstar game is popularity contest. Paolo was 10th in votes among Easten Conference front court players.

Porzingis has more votes in first ballot than he had whole last year, that's what happeneds when you become Celtic.

Well Paolo isn't getting in on votes.
We're talking about coaches picking the reserves.
Zero reason for the coaches not to pick him.

It's obvious Giannis Embiid and Tatum will be in.
That leaves 3 more front court and 2 wild cards.

23.1 ppg-Paolo
24.3ppg-Randle
22.7ppg-Jaylen(don't know why he's a front court this year)
22.0ppg-Adebayo
21.0ppg-Butler
22.1ppg-Siakim
21.2ppg-Bridges
19.8ppg-Porzingis
20.5ppg-Barnes

There's no way he doesn't get picked. If Paolo is left out, there will be a big outcry.
Leader of the playoff team. It's 100% now.

Voted 80% or higher. He will make his case resoundingly clear by the time all voting is finalized. That Sacramento game to me is where it all clicked for him and hit that next ascension point. He is making his reads much quicker offensively and is recognizing where his sweet spots are at on the court. The game is being played at his pace and it is exciting to watch.

Should he not get voted in...I feel very sorry for the league who endures his wrath on the court.

100% The pundits (and former players) are now saying he should be an All-Star which carries weight.

I voted 80% or higher. I won't be shocked if he doesn't, but it would be mildly surprising given his play this year, our standing, and more specifically his play the last couple of weeks. He's been showing out and taking over games. Teams aren't just guarding him anymore, they're literally sending two guys chasing him in late game situations. That's superstar levels of respect.
