Suggs at PG Again?

I have watched every game this year. I think I am ready to experiment with Suggs at the point again. Everyone is trying to find the PG to help spread the floor for PB and Franz.. I am thinking sniping SG instead. All AB does is bring the ball up and go to the corner anyways on offense. Franz and PB have both gotten significantly better and handling the offense. Suggs also. The game has slowed down a little for him.
If he could continue to shoot 35%+ from 3... imagine if we brought in a 38-40% high volume SG to pair with him. Definitely easier to find than a PG. AB just plays with the 2nd unit with Cole.
Anyone else think this could work now?

I wish we can trade for Anfernee Simons. I just don’t see any way Portlands gives him up.
Simons (+ filler) for:
Fultz
Harris
2 1st Round picks
Or
Carter
Fultz
1 1st Round pick

He is exactly what we would be looking for to pair with Suggs. I just don't see us having what they want. I can see some interest in WCJ and maybe Gary/Fultz as expiring. Would need to send 2 1st rounders and AB or Jett. Even then not sure.

Simons and Quickley are my two current crushes and a case could be made that either should be made available. They're both "incomplete players" but who isn't? I'd send a couple of firsts (one being DEN) for either if they'd go for it
To answer your question ...I'd like to give Suggs more point time. My concerns would be
-are his handles ready for defensive pressure? NBA defenses don't do that a lot...unless it's an exploitable weakness
-does he bring ANY table-setting or does he also just "hand it off" like AB? ORL has Point Forwards, but you still need some PG play.
-also, is AB any more of a "safe" ball handler than Suggs right now?
-Does Suggs' time on-ball take up any of his energy best used for his elite defensive effort?
I'd really like it to work but not sure...also, Simons has been ringing up nice assist numbers while Scoot warms the bench. Dunno what POR is working on...as big a fan of Simons as I am, I don't like the pairing with Scoot and - I'd choose Scoot long term (with Sharpe) if I'm POR looking at a rebuild platform.

Been saying this for weeks. Black is not even a PG. Suggs can do what he does and do it much better. I mean he already does, he’s just a different position on paper. I’d be all for getting a 6’5+ scoring guard to start next to Suggs.

Agree and, having said that I still like AB, a lot, running with Cole and (hopefully) Ingles for now. AB deserves minutes and is very intriguing, but we need some offense out of our backcourt - so it's Suggs OR Black. For now, that's an easy decision.
Having said that, the guy that needs to be playing next to Suggs in the starting lineup isn't on the team yet - unless Jett suddenly "clicks". If the FO really has a lot of faith in AB and Jett, then grab a versatile placeholder like Brogdon or Tyus Jones. If we're swinging away for something long term, throw picks at POR for Simons or NY for Quickley. But do something!
Even if Suggs is sitting in "PG" spot, I'm not sure a Buddy Hield type is enough. It'd be a huge improvement but I'm just not sure how high the team's ceiling is raised long-term. For a relatively painless (exp & a pick?) try-out, I'd be all for it - but he's going to need a new deal that he might quickly go negative on if our defense drifts...worth a try as a stop-gap.

No. Suggs is not a PG because he has a poor handle, reckless body control, is a straight line scorer, and doesn't set guys up with nice passes.
Good 6th man/defensive specialist/supersub. Why can't people be happy with that? Stop trying to make him more than he is.
The right PG for this team isn't on this team yet. We just have to wait.

He is not PG but not necessarily a sub. He has size and strength to be a great wing defender. His shooting will be the difference maker.
Black is in the same vein.

I like that comparison.

Suggs is my SG. He has taken a nice leap on offense. I wouldn’t limit him to Smart on the offensive side.
Suggs is now apart of the core and I’m good giving him this season and next to audition at SL SG.
I would like to keep his play making at the minimum.

per 36 stats for their 3rd year in the league:
Marcus Smart: 12.5/5.5/4.6 on 49% TS
Victor Oladipo: 17.4/4.3/5.2 on 53% TS *Oladipo was a year older than both Suggs and Smart
Jalen Suggs (so far): 17.7/3.4/4.5 on 60% TS

Suggs has all-star potential. Love to see it

I don't know how much of a PG Suggs is, but he is more of a PG right now than Black is right now. Since we don't have a PG on the roster who is better than Suggs, I think Suggs should be in that spot right now with Harris as the starting SG.
Also, I demand credit for being the first one to say that Black isn't a PG back in preseason.

His game is very Derrick White. His destiny is a jack of all trades, glue guy. He defends, he hits open 3s, makes smart passes, and makes winning plays. I don't think he's got the ball handling or playmaking capability and vision to be a full-time on ball point guard. But his ability to float on and off ball and still make plays is his appeal.
Anthony Black is a ways away from being ready from that responsibility, but I like his game and his poise. I believe there's a low ceiling on where Fultz can take us. I think that point guard just isn't on the team yet.

No. Suggs doing too much is a problem and his handles are not as good as Black. Black is doing fine in his role, the coaches are trusting him as a 19 year old for a reason.

I like Suggs well enough as third-string PG…if that enables us to load up some shooters at the other guard spot (rather than a WCJ type)
I’d love him to develop more PG skills, but he’s not there yet
Derrick White/Jrue Holiday are excellent pictures to post in his locker

Nope sorry Suggs isn't a PG, he is also frustrating with some of his bonehead passing.
