You Pick 'em

Post#1 » by Skybox » Thu Jan 4, 2024 7:22 pm

Distraction from West Coast woes and trade season impatience...

IF you could pick ONE guy, given our current roster and just plug him into our lineup, who would it be?

Pick two...

1) nearly 100% unavailable but would be amazing

and

2) for one reason or another, could maybe be gettable this season or summer, by trade or FA

Mine:
1) D. Booker, he's shown he can run enough point, obviously lights out shooter/scorer, big & feisty for a guard, especially next to Suggs - would be a no-fun night for opponents.

2) Surprise....Anfernee Simons

I would go Jokic and Claxton.

Doncic and Jokic are obviously generational talents but both (especially Doncic) are so ball-dominant that Paolo & Franz seem like they'd be relegated to catching lobs and kick-outs (which are the antithesis of their present games). I guess you can't turn down a chance to choose the guy you think is best but I was leaning towards completing the team, not rebuilding it. Didn't see that coming but couldn't say no either

Jokic is a very willing playmaker, which is why I picked him. My second choice would be Halliburton.

Chet (or Wemby) and Paolo would be one hell of a 5/4 pairing

1. Anthony Edwards

2. Does Mikal Bridges count? If not its a toss up between Monk and Simons.

Haliburton - wanted him on the team before he became much of anything and that definitely hasn’t changed now that he has

Simons - we are needing elite shooting that can also be the next man up to give you 20+ any given night and we get it here in a local kid from Longwood - would be pretty special for this franchise, imo

This is a really good question. While Haliburton is my favourite player in the league, I’d probably take Jokic over him to guarantee championship contention. Paolo would be an AG/MPJ combo #2a and Franz would be an MPJ/JM combo #2b. I think Jokic could turn them into elite offball guys, whereas from what I saw of Haliburton and Paolo on Team USA it didn’t seem like a complimentary winning combo.

Any single player we could realistically add? Malik Monk. TRoss meets Cole for a big scoring punch off the bench.

I forgot Halliburton...he's the guy for sure. He'd be OUR SGA in our drag race to the Finals vs OKC

still Simons for realistic

I'd say Booker too who is 99% unavailable, but there is some chance if Suns are derailed by injuries and cant move Beal and Durant. Jokic is like 100% unavailable, so i cant count him.
As for №2 - Simmons too, then Bogdanovic (atl), then Mikal, listed by availability.

1. Booker
2. Tyus Jones/Monte Morris- Both better defenders and passers than Simons, also good shooters at fraction of a price. Really a no brainer for me.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !
