Bol Bol; do we miss him now?

Post#1 » by otownflava21 » Sun Jan 14, 2024 3:15 am

I’m not sure that if we had Bol Bol we would have +2 or +3 wins this year so far. But I would say maybe that he would have won us 1 extra game at least. However I am curious what the general fan bases’ level of regret is for letting him walk.

Would he have provided better minutes than what Schofield, Queen, and Chuma has offered us this year?

Would he have been useful to be plugged in as an emergency backup center when WCJ is routinely injured?

Would he have been able to handle again being a 3rd stringer and not cause lockeroom toxicity?

Currently he is end of bench with the Suns at 7.2mpg. However, his per 36 numbers are video game like, and very inflated, as usual. (15 pts, 11 rbs, 2.5 blks, 1 stl, 79.3% FG, 80% FT and 60% 3PT per 36min in 7 games)

He’ll always remain a tantalising prospect, he just isn’t able to give a team consistency.

He should’ve signed with another tanking team that could guarantee him minutes. I’d like to see him on Atlanta actually, next to Capela and Jalen Johnson. Hawks kinda need to take a punt on a diamond in the rough option like that.

What gets me with Bol Bol is that he wasn't a center, he was a guard in a center's body. He was a poor defender and poor rebounder for his size. I don't think any of these issues have resolved themselves. Good guy but pure hype. There is a reason he is an end of a bench guy.

I highly doubt he would get into rotation of any nba team, including Pistons, who are highschool level of basketaball

Idk how a guy whose production on paper last year was relatively decent and is 7’2 and can shoot 3s is irrelevant to any NBA team. He’s not a starter but he’s an OK backup if his attitude is in check.

His bball iq needs to be checked, not the attitude.

Yeah...he's really tearing it up in PHO. Shooting 60% from 3. Shows you how little that number can mean without context :noway:

He's awful. He was awful here - even when he was putting up numbers. Side show.

For sure the playing time with a loaded Suns roster has been minimal, so 60% 3pt and 80% fg is very inflated, but he still did shoot at high percentages for a significant stretch the first half of last season until JI returned.

Everyone knocks Bols defense. I get it, aside from blocks/steals and deflections he’s slow, low IQ, and lethargic on defense. Let’s also not forget how many 3PT shots he blocked last year for us too.

But our problem right now isn’t defense, it’s OFFENSE!!! We can’t score a lick. Bol at least draws the occasional double teams, and as some have stated he plays like a guard and knows how to pass.

Healthy JI>Bol 7 days a week ….but we need depth ESPECIALLY when either Franz, PB, or JI are injured. Chuma beat out Bol for the last spot this past offseason but dude is shooting 32%!!!!!

He’s not the solution to our problems but I don’t see how Chuma>Bol when our team needs offense not defense ATM

24 years old, his BBIQ is what it is. Like it was case with Thon Maker, i highly doubt he can play any serious organizied basketball. So maybe lower tear Europien competition, 100% not Euroleague and "showtime attraction" type of leagues were former NBA players have celebrity treatment and competitive basketball is complete aftertought ( asian leagues). Like Dwight's league were one team against him played 3 players who are taller than 7'3. Needless to say any serious team would force turnovers and boost pace until 7 footers drop dead... But instad, game turned into Dwight-defending-postups- against people who can hardly move.

Bol always was more of a attraction than serious basketball player. He is worthless in open space on defense, his stamina is awful and he is 7'3 and yet 155 out of 330 shots he attemped were- 3s. :banghead:

Bol is a fun guy to watch in the respect that he can actually pull off legitimate guard moves at 7'3" and no one else in the history of the league outside of basically Wembanyama have been able to do.

Behind the back dribbles to beat defenders, grabs and go coast to coast in transition, etc.

But along with the incredible eye popping flash plays are like 10 other terrible plays.

I'm generally glad he's gone.

I fell like fans overstate the impact of some former players. I will never understand the fascination with guys like Victor, Harris, Bol Bol, and AG. Maybe with the exception of Victor for a year or two, these guys are role players at best and aren't exactly tearing up the league right now.

Not sure how Victor got on that list

Victor will probably finish rookie year while averaging around 20 ppg, 10 rpg and 3 blocks , on team without funcional PG.

Yeah, I meant Oladipo, lol. I should have been more specific. I should have said how Magic fans are fascinated by their former players. Wemby is a beast, lol.
