Are the Magic being TOO careful with Isaac?

Isaac is sitting again tonight vs Cleveland on the second night of a back to back at home. Are the Magic being too careful with Isaac's minute restrictions because of his injury history? I get it, we don't want him to get hurt again, so they're being cautious. But I can't help but wonder if this is overkill. He played 13 minutes last night. If he can't play 15-20 minutes two nights in a row (at home, so no travel involved), should he be even playing?
I'm rooting for Isaac, very much so, and I'm thrilled on nights when he gets to play. And to start the season I understood, gotta take some time and ramp him up into game shape. but we're halfway through the season and he's played 20 minutes once this season, and hasn't played a back to back.
What do you guys think? Too cautious or still understandable given his history?

Hard to tell without knowing how Isaac is feeling. If he is experiencing some discomfort, then yea it makes sense to be this cautious. Otherwise, no.

I really don't know. He gets reinjured even under this rehab regiment. I wonder if they even have a timeline to full recovery or if they are playing it by ear. It seems unsustainable at this pace though

Yes. I think it was the TNT crew that said that injuries have not actually decreased ever since resting players became a thing. I don't think Isaac not playing 12 minutes tonight is going to make any difference in terms of "preserving" his health. But I'm not a trainer so...

There is no such thing as being too careful with Isaac. Have you noticed how this boy lands when he jumps?

If he has issues with inflammation, then keep him out until he's better.

Conspiracy Theory in me says that Magic FO knows we are at best in the PO or at worst fighting for the play-in. Thus, they wanna make sure JI is ready to go during that time.

I think it is his hamstring, not his knee.

The writing is on the wall with Isaac as far I'm concerned, he has just missed too much time. If we get anything positive from him I consider it a fleeting bonus.

Nope they aren’t being to careful. Let’s get him to 42 games played this season and give him another healthy offseason.

I don't consider him to really be part of the team. He's available sporadically for limited minutes.
He's on the bench more than he isn't.
I'd rather Orlando had the $17.5m than hoping Issac suits up for his 8-12 minutes every fourth game. I've been ready to move on.

Best ability is availability.
Unfortunately we dont know which is which. I suppose it is FO being too cautious. Wtf is injury maintenance? Seems like a load management thing lol

Welt is on record saying the hamstring injury was the least serious of Isaac’s many setbacks. But here we are more than halfway through the season and he’s still dealing with it. I feel like they’ve known for a long time this is as good as it gets for Isaac. I doubt they have any hope or intent of increasing his minutes at any point this year.

We are in February and are still doing minutes restrictions with him. Its just not gonna happen. His body just cant hold up. We are just going to keep doing this song and dance.

If he's getting paid 5 or 6m, you can prob grit your teeth and do the dance. Treat his availability like a bonus. But not at 17m.

...and our next game isn't until Friday.
This just isn't sustainable.

He is semi retired, recreative basketball player.
Guy plays 8 to 14 min, twice a week. If year is good.
if year is bad, he doesn't play that year.
Paolo, drafted last year, wiill in within next two games surpass total min played. Isaac was drafted in 2017. Paolo in 2022.
You can sit him for next two years and he will still break down at some point and be out for year or two. He simply isn't made for pro sports.

Wish I could sit out of my job regularly and still get paid. I sure need more rest than I've been getting

Isaac is a DPOTY candidate if he ever figures his health out.
He won't. The temptation to not avoid him is too high. Hence why he hasn't been waived. If a sucker if born every minute, another team will give Isaac a chance. Personally I think that team is Phoenix.
