poll: trade-deadline expectations?

Post#1 » by drsd » Thu Jan 25, 2024 11:45 am

With the trade deadline 2 weeks away, the fantasy-league view of fandom is on us.

So to a poll: what sort of trade do you think the Magic will make?

None: WeltPark to announce: "I like this team"
Deck-chair trade: think Okeke for a 2nd-round pick
modest trade: think Fultz for Lowry
structural trade: think Fultz and the Denver pick for Huerter
big trade: many players/picks for many players/picks, but no real shift in talent asset levels
block buster, consolidation trade: many Magicians/picks for a max-level player
shock trade: anything involving Banchero and/or F-Wagner

edit: if the Magic make lots of small trades, collectively that's the same as "big trade".

I think we go for a Hield or Gary Trent sort of guy and try to move off Harris. Then maaaaybe go for like Tyus Jones/Monte Morris caliber player too and maybe trade Fultz.

Don't see a trade for Murray or any big names.

Good poll…sad, but good. I expect a sober press conference describing how there were “no deals on the table that we felt advanced the goals of the team. We feel like we’re on the cusp of something special…high character…organic…continue to evaluate and develop…head up my ass…blah blah blah”

deck chair move. nothing to address our weaknesses or forward looking strategy, just some move so they can say they made a move

I was torn between modest and structural. Called it a coin flip and went for the structural trade.

Welt is hiking Machu Picchu, he'll be back on draft night. But rest assured, he's evaluating the roster.

The way we are structured is there is no objective reason to anything but move around the third string some since they get the most burn. I suggested Okeke for a second because that moves Jett Howard up a spot.

I would not be surprised if we traded 1 or 2 of our FRP's the higher of which having some sort of protection to move one of these deep 3rd stringers along.

I think if we are looking at our build....we walk away with a sense of disappointment. Because we are Orlando Tragic. That being said, it could be the old reliable "addition by subtraction" and letting the expiring walk come summer.

80% none

20% deck-chair trade (just if any marginal player asks to be sent away)

Weltman & co. have the core they want, first seven players on the roster, set for next 2 years at least,no way they are gonna touch anything.

I’m thinking that if we do see a trade it’s going to involve 2nd rounders and cash paired with Okeke or Gary Harris. Any incoming players will be immediately waived.

I don’t think that we will trade any of our upcoming first round picks yet because that will eliminate the thrill Weltman gets from trading them for cash on draft night.

It will be absolutely riveting.

At this point I tend to agree. Would love a guy like Simons but don’t think it will happen.

I think we will get one of Jones/Morris/Brogdon.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

FO has made a move every trade deadline for the past 4 seasons. I'd like to think this season won't be the exception.

A yawn type move. So somewhere between "none" and "deck chair".

I love this trade. Not sure why Indy does it, but for Orlando, it is a huge talent upgrade.

i dont see anything substantial happening at the deadline

I think wepark have come to the conclusion that even 100% healthy, we arent 1 piece away and are going to stand pat, build through the draft and hope to sign someone in FA with the money freed up from expiring's

Indy needs defense and both Okeke and Harris are plus defenders.

Hopes? Sure, I have hopes.

Expectations? Not so much.
