The Official Front Office Needs to Get to Work Thread
I'm sick and tired of hearing how teams miraculously shoot so well against us. No, that's not it. You are so used to watching our team build modern skyscrapers with the bricks they shoot every night that you think a decent 37% clip is ungodly. It isn't, we just suck at shooting and it's on the Front Office to fix it. Paolo's efficiency is terrible becuase he can't trust his teammates. Fultz hitches on jumpers TWO FEET AWAY FROM THE BASKET NOW.
STOP THE MADNESS. GET SOME GUARDS THAT CAN SHOOT THE BALL!!!!!!!!
P.S. ALSO GET MOSLEY AN OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR.

Re: The Official Front Office Needs to Get to Work Thread
Pacer beat the Sixers and the Suns without Hali (yesterday and today).
Why? Because their FO made a HUGE trade. They went out and got their star another star.
Siakam had 31pts/7rbs/4ast tonight (on 14-22 shooting) and 26pts/13rbs/10ast against the Sixers (on 9-13 shooting)
The Knicks are 11-2 since trading for OG
We were above both teams just a few weeks ago.
What is Weltman doing?

I have moved on from the "We are family" bull, and I am ready for an aggressive front office.
So sick of letting guys walk, and doing nothing when they have value. We sit here and talk about having the "right guys", is just an excuse for our management to keep on doing nothing. The management built the worst shooting team in the NBA, and they need to fix it.

It's more than that though. Fultz and Harris have not been good this year even when they are available. Cole has been healthy but he's just not it. WCJ is PF who can play some part-time center. You can't change my mind on that. Then, there's the obvious shooting issues... This roster is a mess and Mosley needs help; on the court and on the bench.

Fultz and Gary Harris is for sure cooked....Not sure about JI, 50/50 and Dell should be out but people will look at the numbers and hesitate....i'm thinking trade him now when he's playing well and we can get something for him

Just said this in the game thread but it belongs here. This FO better start getting serious. We need another big time scorer on this team. And please stop overhyping a players individual defense. IDGF about Simons defense. We have a good defensive system In place, we need a guy that can drop 40 on any team on any night. Not effing vanilla ass Tyus Jones, or monte morris.

man, i said i would be ok with simons on twitter but every excuse in the book comes up....too expensive.....no defense.....it's like the fans on twitter are looking for any excuse to stand pat....i'm thinking we made all these moves and got all this flexibility, at some point we got to take a shot at someone....it's either now when we got a little bit of latitude or later when we will be forced to spend money

Orlando "in their own head" Magic
I generally like our front office. They are tough negotiators, draft well when it matters, bring good veterans, but...
They talk about character and they just get players who are in their own head all the time. Character is not only about being nice to teammates and working hard. Sometimes you need to be mean, aggressive, you need to keep composure in big moments. Half of our roster have buttery fingers, brick open shots for no reason other than low self confidence.
Fultz and Anthony should be the most composed and they are the least.
WCJ is closer to what Beverly said than you would like to accept.
Black is a rookie but also not very confident and decesive ( he has time)
Suggs and Isaac are confident only on one side of the floor.
Okeke is propably second to only Fultz at being anxious and afraid.
We look more like rehabilitation center, both physical and mental.....
Weltman can spot talent, but he has no eye for character. I mean he can spot a great husband but not a basketball winner. They need to do more psychological profiling or something, hire another mental health specialist.
I want to hear Anthony Parker more. What is his aproach?
We are in a good spot, but we need to know our weaknesses. We need more good-for-nothing players who can really resist the pressure.

Re: The Official Front Office Needs to Get to Work Thread
Ive been a Weltman fan, but he needs to get serious this trade deadline. We would be under .500 if it wasnt for that 9 game winning streak.
We need to clean house with the guards. Its 2024 and you cant be a guard that cant shoot. I swear we get nothing from Fultz, AB and street clothes Gary Harris. And Cole Anthony is below nothing, when he lost his hair, he lost his basketball skills too? Like what is his value to a basketball team? He is an offensive minded player who cant score lol. Should have never extended him. Id trade him for Elfrid Payton.

I think people talk a lot of **** when it comes to saying they want a big change. For some reason fans are scared of looking bad….I guess… The FO needs to stop playing it safe with guys like Tyus or Morris. Their non TO’s aren’t going to make a big enough of difference.
At some point we’re going to have to get some guys that can fill it up and stop worrying about individual defense so damn much. Swing for the fence for once.

Re: The Official Front Office Needs to Get to Work Thread
I wanted us to trade 6 and players on draft day. Im on record. Start the consolidation asap, after seeing how well Franz, Paolo and Jalen did after the ASB 2023.
But no.
We've wasted a full year to end up back where we essentially were. .500-ish team with massive skill overlaps, big holes in certain role requirements, some very limited players, many injury-riddled players and overall too many players on the roster, messing up lineups.
We need to take some swings. Not necessarily at stars, but at ascending players with skills we need. No more reclamation projects. No more grandads. No more hustle guys.
If we "overpay", who cares? Give a 1st rounder for expiring Monk or someone similar. If we're such an amazing destination for players now , as Weltman has been spouting for 5 years solid, surely Monk will stick around and reup. We can tap up his agent ahead of time, like EVERYONE else already does.
Stip nitpicking and fussing and dithering. Stop putting exaggerated and arbitrary values on our "assets" (if they have any value left after Weltman has squandered it).
We need to switch mentality in the FO. We are buyers. We have a need. Stop acting like you're somehow the market-making seller and be the decisive buyer. Weigh up the benefit of being cautious and value-driven versus being proactive and performance-driven.
Do. F-ing. Something. Now.

Re: The Official Front Office Needs to Get to Work Thread
I am sick. I would be happy if the Magic traded away every single guard on this roster to improve shooting: including Suggs. This cannot continue.
Orlando needs one starter guard that shoots a 40% three ball on at least 4 attempts per game AND one backup guard that is also a consistent 40% three-ball (and no, G-Harris does not qualify in this discussion, at all!).
If I read: Fultz, Anthony and Black are all traded for .... (fill in blank), I would be quite OK with that so long as shooters were acquired.
My mental health cannot continue to take this crap.

Re: The Official Front Office Needs to Get to Work Thread
If those of you who prefer the cautious approach stop and think, where's the jeopardy in being aggressive in the NBA?
The league wants you to be aggressive and rewards you accordingly. If you screw up theres no relegation (which is a huge deal in non-US pro leagues). The league even rewards you with a chance at better players. Talk about a safety net.
If you screw up the aggressive moves and end up in cap hell or failure on the court, then the FO was no good in the first place. So "growing organically" is just a fear of finding out your organisation is incompetent.
Miami isnt afraid. Neither LA team is afraid, Phoenix isnt afraid. OKC isnt afraid. Sac wasnt afraid. Minn wasnt afraid. Boston isnt afraid. Indiana isnt afraid. NY isnt afraid.
Theyre all in way better situations.
Sure a few others screwed it up. But that just means their FO was no good in the first place.

Suggs injured again
I was surprised to see that we lost to such a short handed team at first but then I saw the boxscore and saw that we were forced to play Black 27 minutes so we were playing 4 on 5 on offense while he was out there so not really that surprised.
Our best asset that we wantt to trade is Wendell but he is playing well.
Simons and Murray are the guys we need but their teams are set at center so likely wouldn't be interested in Wendell. Getting a guy like Tyus Jones won't really send the message that we are serious about getting better.
We can't keep sliding and acting like this is okay.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Seems we have reached the depths of January 2016 on this board. At the heart of it, still the same issue of not having a point guard and shooting. Will this time around Magic do better?

I just hope this absolute nonsense of “not wanting to break up chemistry” isn’t a factor in Weltman’s decision to do nothing.
Because chemistry doesn’t mean anything if you don’t have the horses.

I want to believe this is the only reason Goga is warming the bench after playing such a significant part in our “shocking” early success.
Look everyone, WCJ is healthy…it was just a bone in his finger…nothing to feed the chronic injury narrative
