Loved Shaq as he was our best and most dominate player hands down.

McGrady would DESTROY in today's NBA...so big, so strong, sweet shooter, intense...he'd be in MVP race - another Tatum, maybe even more skilled overall.

I don't know about that, he was never efficient and he was never good 3 point shooter ( career 33,8%, in last season for Magic he bombed 8 threes a game on 33,9% ). Tracy loved them bad shots and he really loved them on high volumen. In his entire career he only had 1 season where his efficiency was above league's average and it's not like some 2002-2006 was great defense era aside from few teams, teams just took bunch of terrible shots.

Thing is, until 2002 you couldn't play zone, so once zone become legal again, teams were just sooooooo damn awful at attacking it. Since rosters were still filled with leftovers of "no zone era" vast majority of players in 2000s couldn't shoot to save their lifes, so best option for scoring was best player playing isolation to oblivion.

Ignore laughable shooting, pay attention on non existing off ball movment. This era didn't have "best defense in history" this era just had non existing offense. Nobody is even defended outside paint.

If you want to take one player from Magic history to add to this roster, it's Shaq. You can't teach 300 pounds on 7'2 with great insticts. Zion is 6'6 and averages 25 ppg for career mostly because he is too strong for competition. Now add 20 cm to that frame and you have superman.

I want to say Shaq, just because hes pretty much the most dominate big in modern history, but imagining a prime penny on this team......Just imagine what franz and paolo would be able to do with a true PG like penny, not to mention hes still a huge mismatch even in todays nba. Cant see any reason he couldnt be a more athletic luka for us

No offense, but the answer is Shaq.

On paper if you looked at names and not where they were at in their careers when they signed with us we have had a lot of NBA greats under our franchise.

Secondary options would possibly be Penny Hardaway.

Scott Skiles would do pretty decent in today's NBA as well. Would fit an area of need quite nicely.

It was a brief stop but Ben Wallace, Mr Billups on this team would be perfect fits as well.

Penny. We need a guard that can pass, shoot, defend in the worst way.

Penny of course. He's just a tiny bit better than Fultz but should be enough for 1-2 more wins in a season. Of course this impact wouldn't be as major as Jett Howard's next season (just ask Cedric).

Granted, it is a hotly debated topic. I personally am not sure if Penny could ever reach Fultz's peak.

Let me correct you - Markelle's peak is yet to come so it's just a pure speculation. It seems that after re-sigining for 2 more years this off-season Fultz will be ready to play at least 30 games in that period and he surely will make at least one triple. For the sake of argument I'd say Penny might make two, maybe.

With team needs and all that, it would make sense to immediately think of Penny or Tmac. But a player like Shaq kinda invalidates that whole thing. Pack the paint all you want, he'll just score through all five defenders. I'm not passing on Shaq if given the chance.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Tmac probably. How open would the court be for Paolo and Franz when opponents have to triple-team Tmac in the 3pt area.

We already have a few ball-handling 6'10 forwards so while Penny would be amazing here, the split ball-handling would take away the strengths of some of our guys.

Shaq obviously pound-for-pound is the best so realistically probably him, but the offensive system would change completely and one of Paolo and Franz would be thrust into a role player.

T-Mac gives us that other scoring option we really need that would get so many open looks where his usage would go down from obviously scoring 32 ppg but still be great.. like Beal on the Suns sort of luxury but a way better scorer, younger, more athletic and have more in his bag.

Honestly, even someone like Dennis Scott would be amazing and he would kill on this team.

So probably T-Mac tbh, but Shaq would make us better the easiest, just it would change the most.

Either Penny or McGrady would make sense with the makeup of the current roster.
