Let’s see what’s today’s version…

Dejounte Murray is my favorite target. Presuming we can’t get it done…

1. Renounce Fultz, Harris, Okeke, Goga, Ingles, Houstan. Turn down option and extend Mo Wagner ($6m x3 yrs) ($45m available in cap space)

Trade…
ORL sends: WCJ, Cole Anthony, DEN 25 frp to NOLA
NOLA sends: CJ McCollum, #21
*this costs ORL apps $7m in cap space

Draft Tristan da Silva at #18, Yves Missi at #21, Pelle Larson at #47 (all 3 are 23yo and might be ready to play small roles)

Sign UFA Nic Claxton ($22m x 4 yrs) and UFA Tyus Jones ($13m x 4 yrs)…maybe settle for Dinwiddie if bidding war for a backup PG

Claxton, M. Wagner, Missi
Banchero, Isaac
Franz, Black, da Silva
Suggs, Howard, Larson
McConnell, Jones, Black

Advance to the Eastern Finals while Mosley builds a perfect defensive monster and let BOS know their time is running out.

Draft Missi at #18

Renounce and resign Harris, Ingles, Fultz on discounted deals

Trade for Murray starting with future picks and adding a player if needed (Den 25, Orl FRP 26, Pick FRO swap 27, Orl FRP 28)

Use remainder to find vet FA PF
*If we can’t make that trade sign Monk or Jones

Murray/Anthony/Fultz
Suggs/Black/Harris
Wagner/Howard/Houstan
Banchero/Isaac/FA
WCJ/Wagner/Missi

I’m so interested in how Edey’s career plays out. I wanted him to stay in the draft 2 years ago so that we could snag him with our 2nd rd pick when people thought he would go undrafted.

Plan A 2.0

1. Renounce everyone except Ingles. Re-up Mo for $5m x 3 yrs (start with $34m cap space)
2. Trade WCJ straight up to DAL for Gafford. Similar deals, similar value. Better fits on both ends.
3. Trade Cole Anthony and #18 to TOR for Chris Boucher, #19 and #31 (Boucher expiring)
4. Trade Isaac, Jett Howard, and 3 frps (including DEN 25) for Dejounte Murray & Bogan Bogdonavic
5. Draft Yves Missi at #19, Baylor Schiermann at #31
*still have appx $16m in cap space...sign Kyle Anderson ($13m x 2 years), Kris Dunn ($3m x 1 yrs)

Gafford, Mo Wagner, Missi
Paolo, Anderson, Boucher
Franz, Ingles, Schierman
Suggs, Bodganovic
Murray, Black, Kris Dunn

There. That was easy!
Ingles, Boucher, Dunn expiring in preparation for big extensions

Decline picking up options for Fultz, Harris, and Ingles.
Let Goga walk.

Draft at #18 Da Silva or Furphy if he’s gone.
Draft at #47 Ulrich Chomche

Sign Tyus Jones and Claxton.
Trade Carter Jr to Memphis for Kennard.

Jones/Black/Cole
Suggs/Kennard/Jett
Franz/Da Silva/Houstan
Paolo/Isaac/Chomche
Claxton/Wagner

That’s realistic without mentioning some huge blockbuster deal that will never happen.

All realistic except the trade for Kennard. Magic are not giving up WCJ on a good contract for injury prone Kennard who hasn't played more than 39 games in 3 seasons. Good shooter but Wendell has more value than that.

Then get back some picks or something or trade him elsewhere for a shooting guard. . Claxton is better

Trae is worth it imo. He would be the best point guard in franchise history since Penny. Our identity would be different but when he makes a few 35 footers in a row Paolo and Franz will like it if they don't have to bust their ass so hard to score. Then they could save energy for defense.

We'd lose some defense but Trae is a big time player, he's worth the risk.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

All depends on what the Hawks would ask for in return from a Division rival. I like Trae and think his defense could be masked if he is playing with 4 other decent defensive players.

when has he done that? Trae is a very average 3 pt shooter at best. (35.5% career)

and they would have to save energy for defense because Trae would need help every possession

i dont know about the small things, here is what i would like to see

Let Fultz, Chuma, Harris walk. decline Ingles. and Goga will leave, he wont stay for 3rd string center.
sign Mo Wagner to a decent deal (3 years $5-7 mil)

Make good offer to Atlanta for Murray. add in Denver pick, next years pick, Cole, WCJ, take back Capela if needed. (not sure exactly what is needed) and Dejounte's contract is very reasonable.

use #18 on Da Silva. i could see him as a nice SF/PF backup and take over Ingles role (who was hurt a lot anyways). Da Silva 23 also, international experience, could give reliable bench minutes as a rookie.

Use #47 on Adem Bona. 3rd string defensive center on low cost deal.

I wouldn’t downplay Trae’s 3pt shooting. His worst shooting seasons were his rookie year and then two seasons ago with the new addition of Murray, which understandably shook up the dynamics a bit. Followed up last season by hitting 37% on 8 attempts. That’s nothing to scoff at. Better shooting season than Tyrese, actually. Ultimately though, it’s not really the 3s that make Trae attractive to this team, it’s the assists. Nearly 11apg is insane. The threat from deep is the helpful whipped cream on top. No cherry there though, as the defense still sucks. The question though is - is that really the type of player we need? Do we a PG dishing out 10 assists every night or a true bucket getter who can dish out 5 or so while elevating the assist #s of his teammates by putting the ball in the hoop on catch and shoots?

sorry, i would absolutely down play it. average shooter that thinks he is Steph Curry. and you cant discount his huge contract that will require saying goodbye to some core players in a year or so.
