It's all over the internet that Klay and the Orlando Magic have a mutual interest.
I'm assuming signing Klay and a starting PG will happen this summer?
What does the Forum feel about the possibility the Magic sign Thompson?

I mean if he’s cool coming off the bench for Suggs I guess that’s okay but definitely not my favorite move because of his age.

The Magic don't ever put anything out there. I feel like this is just reporters saying it because of how easy it is to paint the picture. The Magic have money and need shooting. Klay is a free agent. The story writes itself.

I just hope it’s a 1+1 if it happens, but I’m guessing it will end up being a 2+1.

I'm of the opinion that nobody we sign from free agency (if we do) is going to be a needle mover in terms of someone who will be a big player on a championship contending team (hopefully in 3-5 seasons at the latest), but more so to stabilize us for the next season or two on offense. Maybe George but even that would be iffy. I think that comes via trade or in the following free agencies. As long as it isn't a killer on years I wouldn't mind most options, including Klay.

I can’t see Klay leaving the Warriors. He’s most definitely using us so that he can get what he wants from them. Why in the world would he leave the Warriors and come here?

This.
No one in Free Agency is a needle mover. Have to acquire one by trade.
Klay’s major contribution will be on the development of our core group. But if he will help us to be contenders with his on the court stuff, no he won’t.

First off... wouldnt this be considered tampering? So that means Silver will make us say bye ye to our cash considerations
Second... this probably Klay just trying to squeeze GSW with all he can in regards to $$$
Third.... our org never really lets anything slip so i guess this is all on Klays camp. Besides, since when did we sign anybody that we telegraphed the move before?

This free agency is about selecting the best garnish to compliment the main dish (lotto talent).
Klay at $81M/3 or something like that is one of my favorite options.

Klay and Klay’s agent has put it everywhere.
I don’t think it’s likely we sign him.
It’s going to be hilarious when he signs with GS a day after the finals is over.

Hopefully, he is just trying to up the low ball offer the Warriors gave him. They are not stupid, hope the Magic are not stupid either.

I think Klay has a few years of juice left talent wise, it's just the motivation factor if he gets paid to play for a not-Warriors team.

Plenty of players in FA will move the needle, because the the needle doesn’t need much to make a move from injured Fultz & ghost of Gary -> whoever is acquired.
Bringing in perhaps one of the best 3pt snipers of all time to do little else but shoot…who just last season was still ranked #1 in off ball gravity among forwards….this idea that that wouldn’t do something to this roster to move the needle…it’s an absurd notion. Of course it will. Significantly.
The issue is that there are a few guys out there who can provide somewhat similar results via having a more dynamic range and less years on their bodies.
But *if* we were to land Klay - I’m 100% certain this team would be elevated.

I think my term of "needle movers" is more so meant towards people being extremely particular about the type of person we bring in (i.e. Jones, Monk, Klay, etc), and not realizing that all of these guys will help to some degree, but isn't the missing piece to this team to take us to the next level. It'll help stabilize us and make us more of a modern offense, but the whole Jrue/Porzingis level guy to put us over the top is still years away. Or maybe they're developed in-house.
As long as we don't give out impossibly bad contracts, I think anyone we get from this FA class (not trades) can impact the team nicely.

The issue I see with Klay is any deal magic fans feel acceptable would easily be offered/matched from GSW. So why would he leave that situation to come here? Are we going to overpay to get him? That would seemingly limit our ability to add a good true PG.
Speaking of that....who's passing to Klay? If he's coming here, he'll want to start. Suggs has only regressed as a facilitator each year for us. Paolo openly expressed his desire to play more off the ball. So that leaves Franz carrying that load?
Klay definitely fixes a major issue for us in a true catch and shoot threat, but we still would have a massive issue with a true PG/Facilitator to help take the pressure off Paolo/Franz.

Not really easy, imo… especially coming of a lottery year.
I think anything beyond 20million will hurt them. They weren’t willing to go beyond that number, reportedly.
Plus, the warriors are in luxury tax. The magic on the other hand have to get to the cap floor.
A 20million salary addition for the Warriors is not the same as a 20 million addition to the Magic’s cap
