I'm really glad I checked in ...had no idea it was at 4pm. Last night was way past my bedtime.
Lol Sky you’re pretty creative with your trade ideas so how are we doing this? What if we had to eat Ayton’s salary in this deal? Is there a way Alton could be included in a package for Simons and we’d be able to cut Ayton?
Ayton's just too much and has 2 more years at around $35m per...I've tried to talk myself into it, but
I kind of like an Ayton/Trae core for ATL...I think there could be enough touches for both, especially if 4 per game are lobs to Ayton. He's a freakin' specimen - huge and agile. Just hasn't shown any maturity and doesn't seem willing to accept a secondary role on offense. Maybe Trae could score 25/10 and, as long as Ayton got his 22pts, he would bless his coaching staff with some defensive effort. Perhaps if he had the right defensive-minded PF next to him...
POR sends: Ayton, Robert Williams
POR gets: Capela (expiring), Cole Anthony, lots of salary relief
POR values the relief of getting their two questionable Centers out of Clingan's way. Capela is a one-year expiring mentorship or flipped at TD or just expiring $22m. Cole Anthony makes POR comfortable with moving Simons out for draft capital or other prospects...generally speaking, taking on Cole's $13m to get off of 2 suddenly redundant or even troublesome players at $47m
ATL sends: Murray, Capela
ATL gets: Ayton, Isaac, Jett Howard
ATL goes all-in on Trae + a huge, young, skilled Center with a very complimentary dirty work complementary Isaac at PF. The core duo needs to be surrounded by shooters and Howard fits the bill, along with their existing guys. If they want Bogdonavic and his "bad attitude" exit interview out of town...ORL happily adds a legit frp and absorbs his salary.
ORL sends: Isaac, Cole Anthony, Jett Howard
ORL gets: Dejounte Murray, Robert Williams
moving Isaac hurts, but could also be a sell-high before his next deal move, Robert Williams is an elite defending role player when healthy - can't complain about injury risks when selling high on Isaac. Murray is the real prize and ORL matches up with anyone's 5.
I don't think value is too far off...to the point where I didn't even add picks. The whole key is ATL seeing the potential of Ayton, who plays like an All-Star or just pouts...Feed the big baby and he'll love you forever. Isaac cleans up the defensive messes and maybe even gets through to Ayton, by example. Ayton could really thrive as a legit, respected Co-Star but playing 4th Chair in PHX's offense just wasn't acceptable to him. If he blows up in ATL, after being disrespected by "lowly" POR drafting Clingan, he'll have his victory.
