Orlando Magic and free agent guard Cory Joseph have agreed to a two-year deal

I'd speculate that the thinking goes, Sure, we added a guard, but he's not a guard that's good enough to be ahead of AB on the point guard depth chart.

Whether that's an accurate assessment remains to be seen, but that'd be my guess.

Fultz does not see himself as a third stringer, and isn't going to be paid like one or take the role of one.

Joseph is not very good. But is generally low turnover and can hit a three. Made 37.2% of his 670 3PT attempts since 2020.

But most important of all, cheap and doesn't have any expectation to actually play. Totally content to collect his check and be a good locker room guy.

Fultz is not even nba player right now and he shouldnt be. I think he would take any role from us but he was not presented one. You cant have veterans who are afraid to shoot and dont know the defensive assignments. Veterans should make the game easier for young guys not harder.
Cory Joseph will be here to mentor not play.
Not a spectacular signing but shows how big of a disaster Fultz really was.

I still don't think, despite what Fawzan said, that this solidifies a rotation spot for Black.

And if it does, I still think (have money on it obviously) that Cole is going to be on the basketball a lot more than Black will be.

Fawzan is really in on Black, which I find interesting since his lens is within game tactics. The momentum is building.

If Black is in the rotation, which he may be, I think it will be at the expense of da Silva with the Magic running three guards (Cole, Gary, Black) off the bench.

Nice! Good vet, good locker room guy and wont be complaining about minutes.

Not a bad pickup to be the third point guard will only play with probably a lot of injuries. Glad we got a veteran to take that last spot.
