Orlando Magic Summer League Standout Jay Huff has signed a Two-Way Deal with The Memphis Grizzlies.

A lot of us wanted him on a Two-Way deal here so this is disappointing. Summer League is a lot different from The NBA season though.

I really wanted him. I thought he would be a good practice player and be able to fill in when necessary.

Orlando has very slim depth behind Paolo and Isaac. Tristan da Silva is the only guy that can really fill in at that role barring Isaac's 15-30 games missed or DNP'd. Would have rather had Huff over Corey Joseph to be honest.

I get that Joseph is a guard that can teach AB for point guard skills as a vet, but CJ isnt going to contribute anything outside of that. Huff would have been able to get minutes.

Good point. TDS is going to get a lot of burn at the 4 this season I suspect.

The Griz is super thin at C. If he does well in pre-season, I could see Huff's contract upgraded to LLE.

It's possible he saw a better opportunity for playing time/15 man roster in Memphis.

The Magic have poached guys from other Summer League teams in the past.

I don't totally see the connection between Huff and the lack of depth behind Paolo and Isaac at PF.

Huff is a center only. And he'd have been 5th in line for center minutes behind Carter, Wagner, Bitadze and Isaac. Even if Isaac misses 15-30 games, that impact will be felt a lot more at PF which Huff clearly cannot play.

Ah right.

Still, 3 7 footers with 2 6'9ish PFs... they can bang with the big guys in the west.

Good for him. He looked lost without NBA players around him. Hope he makes it to the NBA with a regular contract.

I think Mo Wagner could play some minutes at PF.

Good move for Memphis. He wasn't going to get any burn here anyway.

He had great SL, will probably be nice practice body for Edey and GG.

TDS and Franz on the court together is very interesting, I would think Franz would guard the PF, he's a bit bigger. I'd maybe slide Moe into some PF minutes over TDS too.

This argument is overblown, Franz and WCjr can fill minutes at the 4 and perform better than anyone we could’ve picked up in Free Agency at the 3rd string 4 spot.
