I forgot that JI had that many highlight reel plays on defense this season. Nuts.

Re: #NBADefenseWeek - Magic Prominently Featured
Add one of the leagues great defenders in KCP
Full offseason for Black.
Keep Harris as a backup wing
Upgrade Ingles poor defence with TDS/Harris.
More minutes for JI
Goga retained.
Teams will flat out hate playing the Magic.
That's a given this season.

Is it good or bad that 90% of the video was Jonathan Isaac?

lol it was 90% JI and Suggs. At first I thought it was only their highlight tape rather than the team’s.

My boy JI wasn't even a full time starter last year, he should be even better this season.

I could see JI outplaying WCJ in training camp for a starting role.

I don't see that at all. Would be a big step backwards for the team if it happened.

JI at center is the best outcome possiblejezzerinho wrote:T-Cat wrote:richi_v25 wrote:My boy JI wasn't even a full time starter last year, he should be even better this season.

Re: #NBADefenseWeek - Magic Prominently Featured
Isaac obviously has incredible shot blocking instincts and quick hands, but that doesn't necessarily translate to being able to perform the duties of a center defensively at an elite level.
There's a lot more than goes into playing center defensively than that, in particular with how you have to navigate so many ball screens as the second defender.
That part is something JI just hasn't done a whole lot of really. He's always been more of a rover/weakside helper type than a guy who hedges a ball screen or plays pure drop as a "big man" defender.

JI with his fragile body getting beat up downlow? Being the C means you have to take the bumps and bruises we don't see...

Agreed.
Plus Isaac would be a major step down offensively from WCJ. Given we need more offense really badly, moves that give us less O would be really unwelcome, imo.

JI said that he is learning the position, so it would be interesting to see him grow as a center. But he is a natural PF so I would think that him playing center would be in limited minutes.

True, he's learning it. Mosley also benched WCJ for him once already. Talk about smoke, and the fire is clearly visible IMO.ORLMagicGirl15 wrote:eyriq wrote:JI at center is the best outcome possiblejezzerinho wrote:
