Jalen Slawson is a 25 (next month) year old forward. He was a 5-year player out of Furman and was a 2023 2nd round pick by the Kings. Spent last season on a two-way contract with Sacramento.

Javonte Smart is a 25 years old guard. He was a 3-year player out of LSU and went undrafted in 2021. Has been on two-way contracts with the Bucks, Heat and Sixers over the last couple of years. Most recently he closed this past season with KK Crvena zvezda in Serbia.

Ethan Thompson is a 25 years old guard. He was a 4-year player out of Oregon State and went undrafted in 2021. He's played a ton over the last three years in the G-League - 4620 minutes across 138 games. G-League 3rd Team last year.

And of course...

Mac McClung is 25 years old. We all know him. 2x NBA Slam Dunk champion and G-League MVP last year. I would imagine he's a heavy favorite for one of the remaining two-way slots. I think he's an NBA talent.

Not sure any of those other guys are worth a two-way, but we'll see. Slawson would seemingly have the best chance as he's a natural forward and the Magic don't have as much depth there as they do at guard.

Caleb wisely understands his opportunity with this team in the coming years is at forward and not guard.

Biggest surprises are Caleb, Cole, and AB.

Those guys won’t get so easily pushed around on defense now.

I can get behind Cole and AB... but won't that slow Caleb down? Can he run around after the SFs of the league?

I’ve always compared Caleb to someone like Cam Johnson-lite who is a PF/SF and 6’8 215-220 so it’s not far off. For reference Aaron Gordon is 6’8 235.

I think this weight puts him solidly at the “3”, which works in his benefit considering the cluster **** that is the guard rotation. He can compete with TDS at that weight as he is 220lbs and also 6’8-6’9.

But compared to AG and even Cam, those guys are waaaaaay more athletic than Caleb

Might be a tad slow for sf.... But yup.... If he slots in at small forward... That extra size while retaining most of his speed would be great!

And as you said... That Cole and Black gains. Love it!

Cole's interview about putting on the weight and working on his defense and efficiency.... That's all I need from him to be worth his contract and spot on the team

Eh... caleb did his best even holding up against guards in many of his starts. Fulltime.... not a good idea.... but as a switchable defender playing from the sf/PF position.... i'm all for it. annnnnd at the end of the day he's just going to let it fly 99.99% of the time again anyways. haha

Heavy focus on the offense during camp.

I cannot see either available 2way contract going to a guard, unless Anthony is traded.

So that leaves Jalen Slawson, or no one.

Slawson can be an elite defender and he has one offensive skill: he can hit a J. I can see it. He does procet as a emergency combo-forward. On a practice squad, he will be a great defender of F-Wagner.

Why not?

....

As for the third 2way deal, I cannot see it being filled.

I mean they’re gonna fill both two-way spots. There’s no reason not to regardless of position.

And if somebody better comes along then they can just waive somebody off the two-way and sign the new person.
