OK, hopefully this is the wakeup call he needs.

It's just a few games and he's on a modest contract. it's not like we really need him to be great every night, I think he'll bounce back.

Cole has had big games in the past and I like the fact that he himself recognized why he got benched.

The question isn't always this alarmist "Oh we got to get rid of him" the question is more like "Who do we replace him with and what will the cost be"

How long do we think this lasts?

Conspiracy theory:

If this is a "family" organization with "good vibes," then moving Cole out of the rotation would be a prerequisite for quietly trading him. That way his teammates can feel like he's getting a better opportunity elsewhere and it's seen as a positive that doesn't disrupt the close-knit locker room.

Until someone is injured ? It was not hard to predict. I thought there was chance he loses it in the camp but Mosley likes to give chances.

Ha, I love it. Great stuff here.

No, it wasn't hard to predict if you looked at the long running trends. Still shocking though because on the flip side he's a mid-range playmaker and we only really have Paolo and Franz as alternatives. Stylistically, it's a big shift.

You can ask this a different way... how well does Jett perform in his first real opportunity to play?

True. How long of a leash does he get? I'd like to see twenty games worth of data unless Jett looks completely abysmal.

If Jett succeeds we'll be one step closer to an AB/Jett/TDS bench unit. Harris is doing his best to give TDS that opportunity.

I DO love this guy...he's owning it. I hope something changes for him, one way or another. Obviously, there's a Jingles-sized hole that's wide open for the taking and even stretching, but he knows he hasn't grabbed it.

I agree with this, actually. We've been slowly weaning ourselves off of him.

I really want to hear the perspective from those that thought Cole was going to get a bigger role this season. Where do you think things went wrong?

Except you don't trade an asset when it's value is at lowest historical point.

The slow evolution of our backcourt is fascinating.

2023: Fultz/Harris, Cole/Suggs
2024: Suggs/Harris, Fultz/Cole
2025: Suggs/KCP, AB/Jett

Entirely predictable, it was clear what the plan was when they drafted AB and Jett, yet still interesting to see it play out.

I wouldnt call it "modest". its at MLE value and he isnt providing that value.

Mid range play making? Is that what we call going coast to coast to hit a brick or is that when he pounds the ball until the clock almost runs out then hot potato it away for a bad shot?

He takes a lot of shots from the mid-range and is a secondary playmaker

Will be interesting to see if this is just a wake up call moment, or if it’s foreshadowing of what’s to come. I expected Cole to eventually lose his spot, but it could happen sooner if Jett is ready to take on more minutes.

One of our keys this season was a bounce back year from Cole. Him being out of the rotation isn't a good thing. Our bench needs a productive Cole Anthony. We have overall depth and quality, but not specifically in the scoring department. We need him to be good for us, or else we need to make a move for someone who can be.
