Paolo As 6th Man!

Post#1 » by T-Cat » Sat Nov 23, 2024 2:09 pm

Depending on our level of success as of late, when Paolo comes back I would really considering having him come off the bench to give our second unit more offensive threat! This will give Paolo a chance to get back into game shape and more importantly a rhythm he needs.

Franz is rolling with his touches on the offensive end and Paolo can feast in the second unit, which would make our second unit that much stronger!

This move will probably have Gary Harris or WCJ out from the rotation in the second unit to make room for Paolo.

C- Goga/M.Wagner/WCJ (Inability to stay healthy)
PF- F.Wagner/JI
SF- TDS/Banchero
SG- KCP/Harris/Howard
PG- Suggs/Black/C. Anthony

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. :D

Just play Franz with the bench more and have one of them on the court for 48 min.

This is what I'd do. Paulo not dominating the ball so much has unlocked another level for Franz. I would play Franz with the bench more and do what you said and have at least one on the court at all times

Have you seen the teams we are playing when Paolo is projected to come back? I think Paolo is smart enough to adjust. EDIT

He already is the 6th man! From the bench:
-telling the refs how to do their job and getting T’ed up
-telling the coach how to do his job in front of the crowd during live action
-telling the fellow players how to do their job and/or being a cheerleader.
You can be sure that some of these wins lately were due to 6th man Paulo’s persistence and unwavering dedication to,winning.

Just curious... but is the OP the same one claiming Paolo is/was high on our bench during games?

Why have two dominant scoring options in the starting lineup when we have no scoring threat off the bench?

Look at Phoenix Suns with Beal, Durant and Bradley Beal and Nets when they had Harden, Durant and Irving.
Too much top heavy teams on offense and no huge threat in the second unit.

Unless Jonathan Isaac steps up offensively, we really have no go to guy on offense off the bench.

The issue with the Suns is that their 3 main guys played EXACTLY the same way as each other. On ball scorers whose bread and butter is all midrange play. Then top this part of the argument off they all just played offensively (lacked much defensive prowess) and not versatile enough offensively to play off each each other effectively. Meaning none of them were great passers, 3 point shooters, off ball players.

When your players all do the same thing it limits how effective your offense can be/different ways you can attack and you can be easily guarded. Then you have the problem of them not having role player support. One of their stars goes down they immediately become a mediocre to below average team. Contrast that to a team like the Magic or Grizzles those teams are deep and versatile enough to be good enough when of their stars gets hurt.

Banchero was playing like a top 10 player before he went down. Now Franz is playing at a similar level. You don't bench any of them. They'll just make the game easier for each other as they've already had 2 previous years worth of chemistry/familiarity built in. It's not like Franz himself isn't an elite off ball player too, people have already forgotten that in his recent ascension. Franz is a versatile player that can fit any style of play. Also, it's ALOT easier to now stagger lineups without a drop off in offensive efficiency.
