OT: Brightline crash recently, btw some update on Orlando traffic and downtown renovation?

Also according to Orlando Business Journal, downtown Orlando is seeing some huge changes in the next 3 or 4 years.

West Court, which is formally known as the Orlando Magic Entertainment district, is formally going construction early 2025. Downtown Orlando will see expansions of roads and parks plus dining and offices. That is the plan.

As everyone knows, the biggest issue for City of Orlando is public transportation. I wish we get more Lymmo transit and Lynx busses.

Sunshine Corridor, which includes Brightline and Sun Rail station in Disney plus Orlando International Airport, is an idea that has been floated around. But it is going to cost at least 3 billion dollars. I have zero clue how city of Orlando is going to get that money. Federal Grant? I just do not know.

Also I have this wild idea to fix I4 traffic which is to do a bright line extension from Tampa to Orlando. The earliest date it could be done is all the way to 2029. It has been floated before

I love my Magic, man. I live in Central Florida myself. But I just want City of Orlando and downtown to be more convenient for games and visits. That is why I created this thread. I just wanna get some of yall ideas and "Inside Information". lol.

I've never rode the Sunrail, but one of the stops is the downtown Lynx station that is walking distance to the arena. I may try it the next time I go. I live in Lake Mary, where they have a station.

"FDOT has been a key figure in the push for the Sunshine Corridor and is helping lead efforts to advance the the next stage of planning. The goal is to start the project development and environment (PD&E) next year, and that will help refine price estimates and more for the expanded rail corridor"

I live in Tennessee now but every time I drive through Orlando is seems more stuff has been developed and traffic is worse…That could also be because I’m used to the mild TN traffic.

No Orlando sucks now they have way too many ppl, and they should have been trying to expand the roads 20 years ago now it's too late. I had to move away I can't stand that it takes me twice as long to get to Orlando as it did 15 years ago.

It’s all coming down to Disney now. If Disney gives the OK for the SunRail expansion from MCO to downtown to Disney then we will also see an Orlando-Tampa line happen. Hopefully we hear the good news in 2025.

Wrong. The closest hotel is the new AC Hotel (Marriott). That’s in the new(ish) Truist Tower directly across the Arena. The hotel consists of the top 6 floors of the building, and sports the highest publicly accessible balcony/rooftop bar restaurant in Downtown Orlando, overlooking I4 and the Kia Center.

The bohemian is still nice but it’s more than twice the walk and getting outdated.

The first phase of the Westcourt development in downtown Orlando, Florida is expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027. The development includes a Live Nation concert venue, a Kimpton hotel, apartments, office space, stores, and restaurants

Okay. I see the AC hotel is .2 miles and the Bohemian is .3 miles. Either one is walking distance. The Marriott Downtown is .5 miles.
