Ranking Anthony Black So Far

As a young player with unique tools and upside, his future is still a topic of debate. Where do you believe AB’s ceiling lies?

Discussion Points:

Skillset Overview: AB's size (6'7"), defensive versatility, court vision, and basketball IQ have made him stand out prospect. While his shooting is still developing, his ability to impact games without scoring has drawn comparisons to other elite two-way playmakers.
Development Trajectory: The jump from potential to production is where prospects separate themselves. AB’s ability to refine his scoring efficiency, particularly his shooting, and grow as an offensive focal point will likely dictate his long-term ceiling.
Fit with the Magic: With an emerging young core led by Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, AB’s role on the team could evolve in ways that maximize his playmaking and defensive skills.

Poll Options:

MVP: A true franchise cornerstone capable of leading a team to contention year after year.
All-NBA: Among the league’s elite, but not quite at the MVP level.
All-Star: A consistent star in the league, likely a key piece on a contending team.
Starter / Role Player: A solid and reliable contributor, but not a team’s focal point.
Rotational Guy: A role player who adds value in limited minutes but is not essential to a team’s success.
Doesn’t Look Good: A player who may struggle to stick in the league or develop into a key contributor.

It think in couple of years he will end up being a serviceable rotation piece. A bench player that plays solid D and able to sink some open shots. He is in an unfortunate situation where we need bench help now and he just cant provide that. I just don't think this team has the makeup and core players that support having a guy like AB be a successful rotation player. If the opportunity comes to upgrade the team and get some shooters, would not hesitate to include him. Unlike Jett, at least AB has some value.

He has to make a pretty big jump if we expect him to be a good starter. Like a Jalen Suggs year 3 jump. He is not good right now.

but how do you measure how good someone is supposed to be in the 2nd year of their career? in terms of his class? i think he is good compared to his class

What we shoulda done is tank for Wemby. Waaah, Wemby.

But yeah, I went with All Star, aspirationally. Starter realistically.

Right now he’s a rotational player and nothing more. Not sure why Starter/Role player is a choice because role player is rotational player.

I haven’t seen this one but, generally, imo, that guy is terrible

Rotational guy right now.

Potentially a starter in the future.

In order for him to hit that next level he has to be able to create offense consistently for himself. Ideally that’s spacing the floor and running an offense at point. If he’s not able to do either of those things he will stay a multi positional defender in the rotation.

Hes either Sean Livingston pre injury or Penny Hardaway circa 2002 (absolutely not prior). All depends on if he makes a jump.

I think you’ve still insulted Penny.

Entire draft was a complete miss. Black doesn't look like he's anything more than a rotation guy and we massively reached for Jett when we could have had gradey dick or anyone else. Complete disaster of a draft.

In AB’s defense it’s no surprise his limitations and issues honestly. Who the hell do they have on this guard depleted roster that can teach him how to play the position at an NBA level honestly?? It was absurd to draft a 19 year old kid and provide him no veteran leadership. They have a vision of what they want him to be while the constantly are “evaluating “ the roster tells me they don’t even know what they WANT him to be. That’s how you ruin somebody’s career before it even gets started.

Sorry Eyriq, rotational player so far for AB.
And Jett is trending towards barely an NBA player (sorry Bensational). Dude air balled a layup.

He got to watch Fultz for a year...maybe that explains the setback

I went starter / role player. Very close to selecting all-star, and I see the development path. Starter / role player is a good outcome. It's where I have Suggs, for example.

He is someone who should be part of a trade package to upgrade the team.
