- It looks to me the team does not have enough shooting to be competitive. The team was 28th in 3-point shooting last season. It doesn’t seem the team added players with strong track records as shooters. Is shooting a concern?

Had this interview been conducted in 2025 his answers would he the exact same. It’s so crazy how people forget or get brain washed but thankfully stuff like this comes up to remind us.

That’s hilarious. He brings up 1 yes 1 player that will help our lack of shooting. It’s like Weltman doesn’t understand you can have more than 1. You actually should have more offensive minded players vs defensive minded.

I am sure Dallas would trade us front offices.

Front office has been super lazy for 8 years. They spent the first 4 years “evaluating” a known mediocre first round out. A complete waste of time.

They luck into Paolo and Franz, but are so inept at maximizing the margins to improve the team around them. They sell every 2nd round pick for nothing. The only one they pick and keep is an unplayable Caleb Houstan. They whiffed on first round picks like Mo Bamba, Chuma Okeke, and maybe Jett Howard.

The only free agency signing they have to show for in all that time is KCP. And their biggest flaw is how committed they are to their players. Jonathan Isaac, Wendell Carter, Cole Anthony, Gary Harris all just get re-signed and we’re sold this internal development BS as if these players still have room to grow.

It’s super lazy. Any of us could have came up with this trajectory. And it’s malpractice to have Paolo and Franz and not be able to figure out how to add any level of average shooting and playmaking around them. Paolo and Franz are our guys. They have to play better and they will. Those are going to be our max guys. If we’re going to compete in the East, the front office has to be able to make moves on the margins. You can’t blow your #11 pick on a guy you don’t trust to play. You can’t keep selling 2nd round picks for nothing. You can’t keep paying our own guys in free agency and expecting different results. And you can’t rely on Gary Harris to hit a corner 3 if your life depended on it.

This team is what it is. It’s the worst offenive team in the league. It’s the worst shooting team in the league. It’s what this team has been since the day Weltman took over. It’s a bottom third offensive team.

It’s 8 seasons of the same, tired, uninspiring front office work.

I get the frustration I also doesnt agree with some moves but the most important decisions were right.
Look at nba. Most teams have problems to keepnplaers and ours want to resign here.
I can criticize that he targets choir boys without much skill but we can easly change that wit our assets.
What is not easly changeable is culture and we really take care of our players ( personally I think little too much). Most important thing was drafting Paolo and Franz and i was propably the only poster here who wanted them both ( i wanted Wagner at 5). We can really change the restbof the team. We dont have bad contracts. We are in a good position. We just suck right now but it will change i promise :p

I'm given WeltPark time to cook and there are times when being patient did work out (everybody wanted Suggs gone after year 2), but if he does nothing this summer, then they need someone who will actually want to move the needle. I'm not even asking anything crazy but it's clear we have no offense most nights. We do need Franz or Paolo to be able to generate three pointers themselves though. I watched Edwards end the Rockets game by himself. They weren't good shots, he was just bombing 30 ft threes.

I agree. Let's wait another couple of windows to solve the glaring issue we've had for 2 years.

Pretty sure the Devos family wants the Magic to be an extension of the conservative Christian philosophy and so all-defense and no offense. Does it make sense? Probably not but I can't think of another reason why we'd have rosters like this for years. It didn't start with Weltman either I think Hennigan had his hands tied as well with this unnecessary defense first philosophy from ownership.

I keep on hearing the "this summer/this trade deadline we will do something, we need to" for years now. Dont fool yourself. They wont do anything. And even if, we already wasted years! They need to be fired ASAP!

Its not about bombing 3s. Franz is getting better and better at this. Its about consistently penetrating the defense and setting teammates. Its just too much for a 7 foot body to do it all game and play great defense.

There's no space on the court, we have the worst three point shooting in the league.

Put more threats around P and F and that will in turn open up their games as well.
