Paolo's ready for the Celtics series, are you? (Pre-game Playoff Thread 2024-2025 R1)

So, what's it going to take for us to shock the world?
Interesting, when you are a non-fan, it's obvious who's going to win a series. Very seldom is there a surprise without something crazy happening, but as a fan, you're always somewhat delusional. But anyway, whatever happens, I really do hope there are lessons that will help grow Paolo, Franz and the others on their own journey to contention one day.
My hope is just to use this thread as a post dump before the first game. Go Magic!!!

Too bad we're going against the "Great Offense/Great Defense" one but...there is a chance.

Sure... this is the same feeling I got when we faced the MIL relying on Vuc Fourny AG and a limping JI. I knew we were gonna get stomped...

Is the Orlando Magic a dirty team? We watched our team all season and I never got the feeling like we’re trying to hurt players. I am reading so many comments about that. I get that Cole was going for the ball and what unfortunately happened to Ivey in the Piston’s game, but what people are saying about JI because of the Atlanta Hawks players injuries are absurd. We’ve watched him have tremendous defensive impact on this team and not once did it feel like he was trying to hurt any player.
Is Orlando physical and they foul a lot? Yes. But, and people tend to forget, other teams are just as physical with us.

JI didn’t hurt anyone. Dude fell on his back on his own. I also don’t care if we’re a little dirty. We faced that Pistons team with the Wallace boys and they got away with EVERYTHING. I’m good being that team to a certain extent. I hope we frustrate the HELL out of the Celtics. I hope we’re tough. handsy, physical, annoying, and even a little dirty at times. I’m assuming c we get beat but I want the Celtics limping to the next round remembering who they just played.

The Magic will have to find a way to up their game on offense, is my guess. The big difference between us and the Celtics is offense, so the Magic will have to find a way to get to a higher gear on offense. More specifically, the Magic will need strong offensive games from Black, Cole and Wendell. Paolo and Franz are the driving forces as always, and if they’re playing bad it’s because the defense is focused on stopping them. The team’s non-stars will have to be the difference makers, and of our non-stars I think Black, Cole and WCJ have the best chances to produce consistent offense.

I would consider it a win for us if we don't get swept. This is a series where it will be obvious how badly this team needs suggs. We have defense but not nearly the scoring to keep pace. I got Celtics in 5, but if we get a couple of breaks I could see us taking it to 6.

I was watching Suggs defensive highlights and I miss him sooo much. Can you imagine what our defense would be like if we had him? We needed him this series. Rest up, Suggs.

I went down a Suggs highlight rabbit hole myself this week with the long break in Magic games.
Man is he fun to watch, obviously super impactful defensively but was reminded how hot he can get from 3 when he’s on, several occasions of hitting several 3s on 3 straight possessions, making ridiculous full court passes for layups and explosive drives to the rim.
Also was reminded of how awesome Mo was at coming off the bench and immediately getting buckets and irritating the hell out of opponents haha, he and Isaac were/are a perfect complimentary duo.
Wish those guys were available, if so I think we could give the Celtics a real battle.

We are so far undefeated in the playoffs this year. Let’s keep it rolling.

I hope the Bucks/Pacers game is not a microcosm of what’s going to happen in this series.

My guess is even if the Magic lose, it’ll be like the Spartans losing to Xerxes in a way that shows the god Xerxes can bleed. And to quote the great work of Predator - “if it bleeds, we can kill it”.
Let’s go Magic!

Even though he’s probably fronting for us, I appreciate the sentiments.
